Jerry Hahn & His Quintet music CDs
$19.75 This remastered edition of MINGUS AH UM features six of the original tracks in unedited form and three bonus tracks.
Digitally remastered using 20-bit technology by Mark Wilder and Rob Schwarz (Sony Music Studios, New York, New York).
This is a Super Audio CD playable only on Super Audio CD players.
One of the five essential Mingus albums to own, and even if you are not a jazz fan this is still worthy of being in any comprehensive collection. The opening track, "Better Git It In Your Soul," rushes along at a furious pace and then there is a wonderful change of tempo into an a cappella and handclap pause. It rolls on, of course, but the nature of this track reflects the nature of Mingus who never failed to experiment (even though sometimes he failed). The personnel comprises John Handy III, Shafi Hadi and Booker Ervin (saxophones), Horace Parlan Jr (piano), Willie Dennis and James Knepper (trombones) and Charles Richmond (drums). Mingus whoops, shouts and holds it all together and then turns the pace majestically on numbers such as "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat.

Jerry Hahn & His Quintet songs
$18.39 In 1969, the imaginative indie record producer, and jazz-lover, Mark Sutton, who owned his own recording studio in Soho, gathered together some of the finest session jazz musicians working in London together with husband and wife, Dev and Sitara Kumar to record a series of what we might today call "fusion". The result was "Curried Jazz". The producer for the sessions was Ken Barnes and his notes together with ...
| | Lance Benson Mornings & Afternoons CD (2007)
Jerry Hahn & His Quintet album
$12.69 Mornings & Afternoons is a long overdue album for me. This effort captures 5 years of songwriting that covers many changes in life, and allowing change to be a beautiful thing. The studio sessions were pure magic as I feel you will hear in the music itself. The album was recorded in three days in the summer of 2007. All musicians on this album shine in their instruments, and compliment eachother gracefully. The songs move from a band feel, to a break down of just me and a guitar, which I felt would take the listener on a roller coaster ride, highs & lows. I've never had an album flow the way this one did in the entire process from the drawing board demo, the practice sessions, to the studio and duplication. This effort marks my 5th studio effort in 9 years, and I feel it is my best effort to date, I hope you will enjoy the ride. This is what Engineer Gary Burger has to say about Lance's new album..."Every ...
| | Natman Eyes Haven't Seen/ Ears Haven't Heard CD (2009)
Jerry Hahn & His Quintet CD music
$17.75 Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6) Raised in church and a drummer since the age of three, Nathan “Natman” Johnson had an early calling on his life for music ministry. Thus, it is no surprise his life has journeyed its current path. Despite straying from his spiritual home, the “prodigal son” has returned using his God-given talent to give back to the community that raised him.A Holy Hip Hop artist at heart, Natman’s versatile and often soulful style can be attributed to his early musical influences from groups like funk’s Earth, Wind, & Fire, R&B’s Marvin Gaye and rock’s Hall & Oates. Later on, Natman’s hip hop influences included the likes of Tupac and Nas. As Natman’s spiritual journey transitioned back to his church roots, so did his music from that of a secular, but politically conscious rap artist in the company rappers such as Mos Def and Common Sense to the genre of the lesser know holy hip hop.Answering his call to ministry, Natman has earned nominations for the North Carolina’s Holy Hip Hop Artist of the Year Awards for both 2008 and 2009. With universal appeal, Natman’s freshman solo album Eyes Haven’t Seen-Ears Haven’t Heard possesses strong substance. As he musically illustrates his life and deliverance, the 13 tracks on Natman’s album touch on a wide variety ...
