4 stars Swinging early messengers
This was my first experience of Art blakey and the Jazz Messengers. I owned the original album over 50 years ago, and it turned me into a devotee of Art Blakey, Jackie McLean and all things "Hard Bop"! Unfortunately this CD version omits one of the key tracks from that album, "My Heart Stood Still," but makes up for it by the addition of the great live Paris concert album, with the Benny Golson Messengers. It's a great deal for 2 important Jazz messengers albums.
