 Top notch Percy Faith...as always!
Both of these albums were recorded during Percy Faith's early period at Columbia Records. Unfortunately, it was too early for stereo! The continental and latin-american selections featured here are given a more expansive orchestral treatment under the Faith baton than may have been heard originally by artists such as Xavier Cugat. Anyone who may think that Percy Faith's expertise was limited to lush and sumptuous string oriented arrangements should listen to "Jungle Fantasy" from the "Delicado" album. Here the conductor achieves dynamics with the horns and flutes that even he may not have expected from this brilliant arrangement. If there any fans of Percy Faith or just those of light orchestral music who have not heard these selections, give it a listen. Its colorful rhythms and moods should not be missed.
