Full Title - Laurie, Sabina & United Artists Sides Vol. 1. Hailing from the Bronx, The Belmonts took their name from the area's Belmont Avenue. With Dion they scored such hits as 'A Teenager In Love' (No 5) but this was a short relationship & after Dion went solo, they continued to gain hits with such songs as 'Tell Me Why' (No 18), 'Come On Little Angel' (No 28), 'Don't Get Around Much Anymore' (No 57) & the doo wop classic 'I Need Someone' (No 75). This CD features 30 tracks, not only sides made for Laurie & Sabina (many previously unissued) but also, for the first time ever, their complete United Artists recordings from 1964 (spread over this & its companion CD & including two previously unreleased tracks). The music tells both the story of a group that was a very important milestone in the era of doo wop music & also the birth of New York's white group sound. Ace. 1995. | | Ozomatli Live At The Fillmore CD (2005) With DVD; Special Edition
Laurie, Sabina & United Artists Sides Vol. 1
$13.59 This deluxe edition package features live versions of top hits plus classics. The DVD includes bonus features including backstage footage, additional performances, photo gallery, and fun interviews. The set was recorded live at the historic Fillmore in San Francisco.
Renowned as a live ensemble even before its first studio record, Ozomatli finally released a concert album seven years after its lauded 1998 debut. LIVE AT THE FILLMORE draws most heavily from that self-titled disc and the Los Angeles collective's 2004 outing, STREET SIGNS, with rock, funk, pop, and hip-hop elevated by the group's potent Latin rhythms. Ozomatli's performances do not disappoint; in fact, these tunes often outshine their studio counterparts, since they offer an added shot of spontaneity ...

Well-crafted songs combined with sweeping dynamics and superb musicianship has brought the group the local and regional success it has enjoyed. The core members lead by Tennis Mounts were brought together in their high school years with a common interest in creating the signature style GR is now known for. "I spent a lot of time in other bands playing drums and really listening to all of the elements of a song, "says Mounts. "I realized later how much I must have sub-consciously soaked up when I started writing my own tunes. They came so easily; they literally wrote themselves."Following his lead, Jason Coulter (drums), and Nick Franceschina (bass) rounded out the sound, bringing both a personal and musical dynamic rarely found in bands today.Described as "...commercially accessible..." and "Radio friendly...", GR managed to court the interest of Chad Taylor (Live), Adam Kontis (co-owner of Moon Tree Studios), John Curley (Afghan Whigs) and Phil Schuster (Live, Ramones). This interest quickly formed into a group effort, resulting in an incredibly strong, well-produced set of songs for the tentatively titled CD "Calling You".As the band's relationship continues to flourish with the help of these industry veterans, they can do nothing but continue their steady climb up to commercial success. "I've had one goal my whole life, " Mounts states, "and that ...
