I grew up in central Ohio, where Wham and Chicken Picken were AM hits and Lonnie Mack hit us sort of like Jimi Hendrix, only three years earlier. Then he just dropped out of sight. We later learned that he went to work for Electra, played base on the Doors records and made some fat dumb and happy albums that nobody bought. Enter Stevie Ray Vaughn and Alligator records. According to these liner notes, Lonnie's 1964 Wham album was the first thing Stevie ever bought. No surprise. Thanks to Stevie, we got another excellent taste of the blues rock hero Lonnie Mack I grew up with. Wow.
