No, HIGH NOTES isn't a reference to drug use. That's an airplane on the album cover-Williams' tour jet, in fact-and "High and Pressurized" is about the convenience of air travel. Elsewhere, it's mostly rowdy business as usual.
Williams does a spirited two-stepping cover of his dad's "Honky-Tonkin'," invokes the spirit of Charlie Daniels in "The South's Gonna Rattle Again," and goes mariachi on "Ain't Makin' No Headlines (Here Without You)." The standout track, however, is the unlikely, slowed-down cover of the Beatles' "Norwegian Wood." It shouldn't work, but it does, in a weirdly funereal way.
