Following 1996's self-titled release, Gravity Kills continues to be a major player in the "pop industrial" genre. PERVERSION is released on TVT Records, Trent Reznor's label, and his influence is all over it. This is angry synth rock at its best, though there is variety also--"Drown" has a dance hook that temporarily diverts from the gloom, and "Alive" leans towards metal. "Falling" has a catchy electronic beat fueled by a great bassline.
Though obviously disciples of Reznor's Nine Inch Nails, these guys definitely have what it takes to kick it on their own. Gravity Kill's lyrics touch basic human emotions and endow their music with universality, focusing on lust, anger and alienation. Much like their last album, the music is tight and the lyrics are real. All in all, PERVERSION is a provoking release from a young band making its mark.

$9.25 Despite the fact that they were signed to a label before they ever played a live show, Gomez quickly became known as a great live act due to their solid musicianship, ability to create new arrangements on the spot, and no-nonsense, energetic performances where the band seem to be enjoying themselves as much as the fans. Apparently, they had wanted to release a live album for some time, but could not reach an agreement with Virgin, so when ...

$7.99 Music has always been a big part of my life. I grew up in a musical family and thought it was normal that my dad played more than 5 instruments (sometimes more than one at a time). At the age of 3, my parents propped me up on top of a piano in front of our small but dense congregation during a christmas mass to sing my song -- "Papa won't you tell me about christmas", that my dad had composed. I thought this was normal too, for a while. I remember having to sing this same song for relatives and friends of the family when I wanted to go play or socialize. It also seemed normal that my parents would do the music for weddings once every other month, and even more in the summer. Most of this seemed normal, and I never felt like I was in the sound of music, though that almost seemed normal as well...My parent's were always big supporters of my playing music, especially my dad. Whenever I'd even glance towards the musical center in the house, I could see him getting excited. When I was four or five, I also started taking a type of piano class called "Suzuki", where a person hears the music and then tries to mimic or repeat what they have heard. According to my teacher, I was a prodigy, but my move to Sacramento cut those lessons short. When I was in Junior High years later, I took piano lessons for about 4 years through my sophmore year of High School, when soccer became my main committment. I was very active throughout all of high school in music. I orginally joined band in Junior High becuase the group got to go to disneyland and becuase my dad would buy me a $500 dollar saxophone, but it ended up being alot more involved later on during High School. I played alto saxophone for both the Jazz Band and Concert Band for four years. I marched in the 80 piece marching band while playing alto sax for two years and my junior and senior year, I was the Drum Major/Director in a sense of the group for games and parades. Mr. Sutton the director of the music program was one of the influential people in my musical progression. He also helped me during my role as Harold Hill in the Music Man, as well as other musicals I was involved in. I also began to play bass guitar for my churches music group. My junior year in high school, I recieved an electric guitar for christmas, after showing interest strumming on the classical guitar throughout the past months...It was a memorable christmas to say the least. During High School, my friends Ryan Geleynse, Matt Twining and I started a band. Ryan played guitar, I played bass and Matt was the drummer, but we later alternated between two drummers, Nate Twining and Luke, performing for our parents and high school talent shows as the band --Stikker. After graduating from school, Stikker began to go it's seperate ways with Matt Twining heading to California to pursue acting and later starting his own band, while Ryan started to work full time and attending the local community college as well as preparing for a wedding. Luke, one of the drummers, left the country to an undisclosed location, and Nate Twining, well....Nate got an XBOX. With little to no creative outlet I started to get a little antzy. My sophmore year, I recieved an acoustic guitar for my birthday (one ...
