With STUNTMAN, Froese began to leave the lumbering electro-orchestrations of past achievements behind and instead economize his soundscapes into more digestible, yet still mesmerizing, tone-bytes. Possibly because of TD's then (late '70s/early '80s) entrTe into the world of soundtracking, Froese's compositions became somewhat more tangible and nearly immediately gratifying.
Froese rediscovers the joys of sequencers on STUNTMAN, and he marries their ever-shifting patterns with a seemingly infinite palette of tonal colors, invented sounds, and surreal imagery. "It Would be Like Samoa" is ten minutes of analog envelopes, respirating, coughing synthesizers, and bubbling, organic riffs. The sequencers themselves practically evolve into the track's melodious center. "Detroit Snackbar Dreamer" and "A Dali-esque Sleep Fuse" (Froese has long used Salvador D. as inspiration) are exercises in mellotronic surrealism, pulsing with sounds wrenched from deep within their machines' programmed innards. Still cool after all these years. Edgar Froese Stuntman Songs | 1. | Stuntman | $0.99 | |

| Stuntman Music Review Average Rating: (4.8 out of 5 stars) Entertaining I first heard, Stuntman, at my nephew's house a few weeks ago. I really enjoyed the electronic effects that were used in this production and I couldn't wait to get home to try and locate it at CD Universe. Even though it was produced in 1979, electronic music fans would find it to be quite
challenging today. It is definitely worth your listening time. Submitted by audreyinpa (Linwood, Pa., USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Winter's Solstice: Silver Anniversary Edition CD (2001) Silver Anniversary Edt
Stuntman CD music
$6.15 This is part of Windham Hill Records "A Winter Solstice" series.
One of the most well known productions of the Windham Hill label, which basically invented new age music but prefers the term "contemporary instrumental," has been the WINTER'S SOLSTICE series. Perhaps inspired by the season-based recordings of George Winston, the SOLSTICE albums (which feature tunes from a variety of the label's artists) have always been not Christmas albums per se, but winter albums. Of course, a few Yuletide-oriented tunes do find their way onto this, the anniversary edition of the first volume in the series, but for the most part these are agreeable sonic meditations on a wintry state of mind by the likes of Barbara Higbie, Liz Story, and label honcho Will Ackerman himself. If you listen close enough, you can almost hear the snow falling.
Includes liner notes by Dawn Atkinson.
Personnel: Will Ackerman, Steve Erquiaga, Tim Ellis (guitar); W.G. Snuffy Walden (acoustic guitar, programming); George Doering (electric guitar); Barbara Higbie (bouzouki, hammer dulcimer, celtic harp, violin, piano, synthesizer); Michelle Sell (harp); Tracy Silverman (violin, electric violin, keyboards); ...

| | Kyoto Jazz Massive Spirit Of The Sun CD (2001)
Stuntman album
$13.85 Taking their moniker from a Gilles Peterson quote, brothers Yoshihiro and Shuya Okino first caught the ear of the downtempo glitterati through a series of releases for Compost which successfully blended '70s fusion with broken beats and bossa cool. Their debut album continues from where these singles left off, with shimmering keywork playing amongst fatback bass and a set of talented vocalists. Despite the occasional falter on to the wrong side of the faux-jazz tracks -- Victor Davies sounding more Alexander O'Neil than nu soul sensation with the excruciating lyrics of "Deep in Your Mind," while the brass of "Between the Lights" elegantly captures the spirit of thankfully long-lost '80s jazz romantic Kenny G. -- on the whole this is a well-rounded first full-length outing. Vanessa Freeman proves a fantastic talent, her vocal plunged into a sensuous mix of Rhodes in "The Brightness of These Days," while the brothers' broken beat instrumentals swirl convincingly behind complex arrangements and softly spoken keys. A highlight comes in Guida de Palma's delicious bossa shuffler "Shine." ~ Kingsley Marshall
The long awaited debut on Compost Records from Kyoto ...

Stuntman music CDs
$17.69 In his 10 years of international touring, Canadian born Wolf Mail has developed a very unique yet familiar alternative Blues rock style. His experiences have crafted him a soulful voice often compared to Joe Cocker and a passionate guitar playing reminiscent of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix. In Tom Branson’s own words “A sound that is both somehow familiar and yet very much original” Traveling and discovering new cultures is an important part of Wolf’s creativity. “I try to soak in my touring experiences in my songwriting and share it with the fans” he recalls, as 2006 will be his fourth tour of the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, Germany, Austria, France, Holland, and Belgium. He has also performed or promoted his music in the U.K, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Malaysia, Thailand, China, Mexico, Czech Republic, Morocco and New Zealand. Wolf’s guitar style is very clean, powerful and yet intense. During one of his ...

| | Gregory Isaacs Gregory Issacs/John Holt CDs (2009) Box Set
Stuntman CD music
$12.89 This three-disc set combines Gregory Isaacs' 1997 Mafia & Fluxy-produced album Hold Tight with 2004's In Dub (which collected dub versions done by Mafia & Fluxy drawn from Isaacs' Hold Tight project and 2004's Open the Door album), and tops everything off with John Holt's Reggae Heights album, which was also produced by Mafia & Fluxy. Each of these albums is available individually, and unless one is a very serious Mafia & Fluxy collector or fan, there's no particular reason to pick these three albums up as a set, although Isaacs and Holt are two of the finest singers Jamaica has ever produced and the rhythms created by Mafia & Fluxy are always ...
