Country Blues Collector's Items (1924-1928) album
$10.99 I'm New Here is a shock. It's a wallop filled with big nasty beats, a wide range of sonic atmospheres, and more -- sometimes unintentional -- autobiographical intimacy than we've heard from Gil Scott-Heron than ever before. Produced by XL Recordings head Richard Russell, I'm New Here is his first record in 16 years. It is a scant 28 minutes and doesn't need to be a second longer. It's unlike anything he's previously recorded, though there is metaphoric precedence in his earliest, largely spoken word albums. Its production pushes forcefully at the margins, and Scott-Heron embraces it without a hint of nostalgia. It opens with "On Coming from a Broken Home," the first of a two-part poem that bookends the album. Over a piano and a sampled string loop (from Kanye West's "Flashing Lights"), he reflects on his upbringing filled with strong female figures and an unconventional ...

Stevie Ray was already the hottest act in Austin, Texas, way before David Bowie used his guitar on "Let's Dance." Vaughan's 1983 debut album, TEXAS FLOOD, had alerted the world to a new guitar phenomenon who combined the blues power of Freddie and Albert King with the inspired ferocity of Jimi Hendrix. He made the Hendrix connection ...

$14.79 Return To Tromb is a Midi-Trombone / Electric Guitar based Fusion Group based in Southern California, having appeared at clubs such as the Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach, the former Palamino in North Hollywood, and the Ice House in Pasadena in the early nineties. Core members include Roger Abas , a North Texas State Graduate with new ideas for the Trombone, still rooted in hard bebop roots and history, but more influenced by the rock generation he grew up in. This approach involves adding electronic Midi-effects right behind the traditional full sound of a tenor Trombone and flank himself luckily with a great band with some gifted and experienced Shreveport LA area musicians Mark Griffith on Guitar and Jay Davis On Bass. This Brings ...
