Casey Jones, George Zienowicz and Andy Redmond recognized that songs known by Irish and Scottish soldiers and the Celtic music that evolved in America were rich repositories that could use a little exploring. With the addition of two more friends, Bud Osthaus and Glenn Owens and, (since all members were a bit older than their “garage band” days), the name Na’Bodach, (Gaelic for “not old men”), seemed appropriate.Research into the various melodies and lyrics that accompany these tunes and the historical integrity employed in documentation displays the respect for the traditions and culture that Na’Bodach share with their audience.However…The use of electric guitar, electric bagpipes, electric fiddle, electro-acoustic guitar and a pumped up bodhran, juxtaposed with a strong, four man vocal range, are insuring that a person at a Na’Bodach gig are treated to an experience in Celtic music they won’t soon forget. Norm Peterson is a keyboardist/musician/singer/songwriter from the Seattle area with many years in the music business. Finally to a place in his life where he can write, compose & record the music he has always wanted to do. Drawing from many influences and styles this is a totally original CD really not sounding like anyone else. Very easy listening and very much music from the heart. The groove is the basis of the music and then everything floats on the top of that. Featured prominently are exciting "guitar' emulations played on the keyboard. Very bluesy & soulful and convincing. Norm also plays guitar but prefers to emulate these sounds via the keyboard. Vintage sounds of the Fender Rhodes electric piano, the Wurlitzer electric piano, Hammond organ, Clavinet, acoustic piano and synthesizer are featured prominently. All the music was recorded in Norm's home studio on Camano Island in Washington state. "Island Crossing" is the area leading to Camano island and this music is his tribute and inspirations to this beautiful part of the NW.Island Crossing was reviewed in the Aug.
