When Aerosmith returned to its original label in the '90s, there were still contractual obligations to Geffen, where they pulled a Lazarus and resurrected their moribund career in the mid-'80s. A LITTLE SOUTH OF SANITY completes the Geffen cycle and unlike most groups who toss together something in order to move on, Aerosmith took great care in compiling this 2-CD live collection that covers more than 25 years. Recorded during tours for GET A GRIP (1993-94) and NINE LIVES (1997-98), this release also marked a reunion with Jack Douglas, the band's producer during their '70s salad days, who helped the boys from Beantown compile the performances on this collection.
It becomes readily apparent here that Aerosmith still tore it up live regardless of how many power ballads they unleashed on radio since the late '80s. Of course, the Zippo-waving songs are here in abundance ("Crazy," "Angel") alongside ribald double-entendres ("Falling In Love [Is Hard On The Knees]") and vintage material ("Mama Kin"). If 1978's LIVE BOOTLEG gave us Aerosmith at their ripsnorting peak, then SANITY provides a reflection of a classic band that's aged gracefully without losing any of its spark.
23 track collection features 'Eat the Rich', 'Love In An Elevator', 'Janie's Got a Gun', 'Dream On', 'Walk This Way', 'Livin' On the Edge', 'Sweet Emotion', and more

Entertainment Weekly (11/27/98, pp.80-81) - "...Sounding tight, well rehearsed, and utterly professional, Tyler, Joe Perry, and the gang bound energetically from one hit to another....For all their creative ups and downs, these geezers can still summon up more nerve and verve than a box of matchbox 20s." - Rating: B Q (12/98, p.114) - 4 Stars (out of 5) - "...Twenty years on the re-formed and reformed rockers have produced a second heavyweight double-live set, recorded between 1993 and 1998, yet reprising many of the best songs from Live Bootleg..."
Aerosmith Rocks /^^/A\^^\ I had this album the day it came out. I will do the same with any new releases of Aerosmith. I agree that they should just put a whole concert on a disk with all the extra talking by Steven Tyler and not cut outs. But this CD is still great and that's why it sold millions. /^^/A\^^\ Submitted by a reviewer (Beatrice, NE, USA) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo 4 of 5 found this helpful.
ANOTHER GREAT LIVE HELPING This double live CD set is wonderful.
It has many of their hits from the late 80's through the late 90's. You even get some of their hits from the 70's. The only two selections I didn't care for was RAG DOLL from disc 1 and LAST CHILD from disc 2. Otherwise you have some good ol
rock and roll here. Submitted by Joel (Miami Fla.) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo 4 of 6 found this helpful.
AerosmithRocks This is my favoutire concert, I know it for 3 years and it never gets boring... on this one, Aerosmith kicks a*&. This is one of the greatest bands in the world, their unique power, their tearing apart ballads, and their rock n roll, it all gives a lot of emotion while listening to this wonderdul music. Aerosmith is really great, and I think this concert is a compilation of their greatest songs ever. I will always love it and I really recommend it. Good CD but a little disappointed I've been a huge Aerosmith fan since the 70's and own several of their early LP's. I really liked the song selection on this CD but had no idea at the time of purchase it was a "live" cd. It is still good Aerosmith music but know ahead of time these are not the studio recordings. HITS GET BORING?!?!?! NO WAY MAN Aerosmith is one of the greatest bands in the world. This album was a great idea. It offers many of their most popular hits! I've seen them in concert twice and this album takes me back in memories. I would recommend this album to any hardcore Aerosmith fan!!!
