| | Pure Moods CD (12 Customer Reviews)
From the exotic world-music flavor of Enigma's "Return to Innocence" to Enya's weightless, ethereal "Orinoco Flow (Sail Away)," to the deeply moving "Theme From 'The Mission'" by Ennio Morricone, the songs on this compilation are mostly mood-enhancing instrumentals that complement each other perfectly.
With it's rich variety of material, PURE MOODS is the perfect album for those without multiple cd changers. It touches on the lightly jazzy (David A. Stewart's "Lily Was Here"), the strangely surreal (Angelo Badalamenti's "The Theme From Twin Peaks-Fire Walk With Me"), and the spiritual (Sacred Spirits' "Yeha-Noha [Wishes of Happiness & Prosperity]"). Artfully arranged and thoughtfully compiled, PURE MOODS is a deeply satisfying collection of atmospheric music.

Pure Moods album
$10.59 The work of European composer Karl Jenkins, the Adiemus debut SONGS OF SANCTUARY is one of those late 20th century musical triumphs whose success came, oddly enough, through a Delta Airlines TV commercial in which the track "Adiemus" was featured. The exposure resulted in hefty sales for this initial Adiemus collection and ensured further releases.
The music is grounded in Western classical structure but features a vocal technique drawn from Africa and executed exuberantly by a chorus of young children as well as the South African singer Miriam Stockley. Aside from the occasional line of Latin, there are few lyrics. Rather, the vocalists recite phonetic sounds, resulting in an album that can be understood and appreciated by many.
Recorded at Angel Recording Studios, Islington, London.
Personnel: Karl Jenkins (conductor); Miriam Stockley (vocals); Robert St. John Wright (concertmaster); Pamela Thorby (recorder); Mike Taylor (quena); Frank Ricotti, Jody Barratt Jenkins (percussion); Mary Carewe (background vocals); The London Philharmonic.
| | Sarah McLachlan Surfacing CD (1997) Enhanced CD
Pure Moods CD music
$9.59 SURFACING is an Enhanced CD containing both a full audio program as well as multimedia computer files.
SURFACING was nominated for a 1998 Grammy Award for Best Pop album. "Building A Mystery" won the 1998 Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. "Last Dance" won the 1998 Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental Performance.
"Adia" was nominated for the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
On her fifth album, Vancouver-based singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan returns with a simpler collection of songs which quietly explore the darker aspects of human nature. SURFACING is a group of straightforward songs which get right to the point, both musically and lyrically, dealing with such heavy topics as faith, life and death in an appealingly accessible way.
McLachlan's unmistakable soaring voice displays its usual angelic tones and amazing versatility, abetted by the familiar, assured stamp of longtime producer and collaborator Pierre Marchand, making SURFACING McLachlan's most mature album yet. Right from the start, with the anthem-like pop tune "Building a Mystery," McLachlan sets the tone, simultaneously shadowy and calm. SURFACING is an introspective musical landscape, a tight collection of thought-provoking songs from one of today's most talented artists.
Personnel: Sarah McLachlan (vocals, acoustic & electric guitars, piano); Brian Minato (electric ...
| | Pure Moods III CD (2001) O-Sleeve
Pure Moods music CDs
$13.19 From the soft focus, new age watercolors of Suzanne Ciani and David Lanz to the electronic oriented sound of Moby and trip-hoppers Mono, the overriding theme is one of lush tranquility. PURE MOODS III manages the difficult trick of maintaining a theme without becoming monochromatic.
The PURE MOODS compilation series is the place where ambient music, new age, and what can only be called "contemporary ...
| | Pure Moods IV CD (2002)
Pure Moods songs
$13.69 PURE MOODS IV follows in the same vein as its predecessors; a mellow blending of various genres that end up being lumped and labeled together as contemporary instrumentals. Casting the net far and wide, the creators of this wildly successful series came up with selections by New Age icons Yanni ("One Man's Dream") and George Winston ("The Sea"), ambient trendsetters Enigma ("Shadows In Silence") and B-Tribe ("She Moves Through The Fair"), plus pop pianist Jim Brickman ("Devotion"). Other curious picks include late cult figure Eva Cassidy ("Fields Of Gold") and film composer Rachel Portman ("Theme From Chocolat").
Most interestingly, obvious attempts at tempting the youth market include an Afro-Celt Sound System/Peter Gabriel collaboration ("When You're Falling"), a Moby cut ("God Moving ...
| | Pure Moods: The Ultimate Tranquil Collection CDs (2002) Box Set
Pure Moods album
$13.55 Unlike the single volumes in Virgin's Pure Moods series, Pure Moods: Ultimate Tranquil Collection is almost entirely instrumental, and features no name-brand artists. Its budget price will no doubt entice some listeners, especially since the package is a boxed set, and is marketed as a companion to meditation, yoga, or relaxation. ~ Johnny Loftus
Unlike the single volumes in Virgin's Pure Moods series, Pure Moods: Ultimate Tranquil Collection is almost entirely instrumental, and features no name-brand artists. Its budget price will no doubt entice some listeners, especially since the package is a boxed set, and is marketed as a companion to meditation, yoga, or relaxation. But nothing on the collection's six discs of music is particularly memorable or even creative, with most of it relying on new age clichés like hissing synthesizers, ambient nature sounds, and the twittering of ethnic flutes. There's no rule that says new age music needs to be boring; unfortunately, much of Pure Moods: Ultimate Tranquil Collection is exactly that. Despite this subpar collection, the single-disc volumes of Pure Moods feature new age and pop heavyweights ...

Zingaia is Michael Breene and Katlyn Breene. David Gordon and Steve Gordon, mainstays at Sequoia Records, co-produced Beneath the Veil with Michael Breene. Katlyn Breene wrote the lyrics and the text for the liner notes, providing the etymology of each composition. This is a set of rhythmic world music inspired by Middle Eastern mysticism. Katlyn's beautiful voice invokes warmth, harmony, and love. The atmospheric soundscape is mostly acoustic. Michael composed and performed the music. This is an enjoyable CD that will appeal to fans of Natacha Atlas, Vas, Sheila Chandra, Yungchen Lhamo, and Rasa. ~ Jim Brenholts

Pure Moods music CDs
$5.85 “While listening through Another December, I found myself longing for the holiday season, the aroma of cider, and that magical sight of the season's first snowfall. This is one of those Christmas albums that simply makes you feel...good. It alternates between sweet acoustic tracks, inventive Christmas originals, and heartfelt renditions of the classics we all know and love. In this age of over-produced and blandly commercialized media, Jolie Vigen stands out as an artist who knows how to connect with her heart - and in doing so, connects with ours as well.”Joseph Itaya, Tempered Entertainment, Los Angeles “Jolie Vigen’s Another December is a wonderful blend of traditional songs and clever originals, performed by a truly gifted singer.
