By the early '80s, the Rolling Stones were one of the last remaining groups leftover from the original "British Invasion" two decades prior. One of the main reasons for this was the Stones' ability to keep pace with the musical climate of the time, without losing any of their original blues-sleaze. Their 1982 live set (fourth overall) STILL LIFE, was taken from performances from their hugely successful U.S. tour a year before, when Mick, Keith and company headlined the biggest outdoor stadiums and vast arenas.
Although it lacks the youthful and unpredictable energy of their earlier concert albums (namely 1970's GET YER YA YA'S OUT), STILL LIFE showed that the Stones still had plenty of gas left in their tank 20 years down the road. Highlights include a cover of the Miracles' "Going to a Go Go" (an early MTV favorite), such '60s classics as "Under My Thumb," "Time is on My Side," and "Satisfaction," plus the '70s nugget "Shattered." Surprisingly, no selections from the album they were touring behind at the time, TATTOO YOU, are included.

A Great Live Set I thoroughly enjoyed this live album. It
shows what the Rolling Stones do best, &
that's putting on a great live show. The
album was originally panned, although it
maintained great record sales. It is one
of the Stones' best. From the minute you
hear the crashing opening guitar solo of
"Under My Thumb", you're in rock heaven.
The album doesn't let up at all. And the
band's boundless energy, is very evident
on their rocking performances of "Let Me
Go", "Going to a Go-Go", and others. One
of the album's best is their performance
of "Let's Spend the Night Together". And
the performance of "Shattered" rocks all
the way through. "Time is on My Side" is
done great here, with great singing done
by Mick. The album's highlight is a high
energy version of "Just My Imagination".
"Start Me Up" and "Satisfaction" finish
the album on a rocking note. Buy this cd

Awesome Album I love this album. The review is a little wrong, they did do one song from "Tattoo You". It was Start Me Up. This album is worth buying. I like Get Your Ya Ya's Out better, but this is up there with it. Enjoy! Submitted by josephmogyoros (Fairmont, WV) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo 0 of 1 found this helpful.
GREAT MUSIC BUT DISAPPOINTING RELEASE This CD documents the 80/81 World Tour where the band performed the superb "Tatoo You" mixed with tons of their classics, so .... why just a single album ?. The performances are great, the sound is very good but they had to have done a double live set that reflected in a better way the greatness of that tour. Sincerely there are bootlegs that are a lot better that this release. Submitted by Stonedeluxe (Caracas, Venezuela) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo 0 of 1 found this helpful.
