Incredible blowing session
One of the best jams of the '60s, this upbeat CD finds three monsters of the sax battling in out on fine standards such as Perdido. Oliver Nelson is, as always, harmonically inclined, and in stunning form. Yet, it would be wrong to say that his playing surpases his teammates. King Curtis, a R&B giant, proves to the jazz world that he could have been up there with the greats, like Nelson. His soloing is soulfull and commanding, displaying an excellent technique and handling of his instrument. His solo on Perdido is my favourite of the album, and the original liner notes say that his solo on In Passing is the most "exciting on the album". Jimmy Forrest has no trouble keeping up either, his playing is heated and fun - great solo on the bonus track. This album finds three amazing musicians playing at their best. Neither one of them outdoes the others - they are all superb.
(To discover more of King Curtis's jazz career, I suggest purchasing "SOul Meeting" - the double album)

Pretty good
Solid rhythm section. Some of the solos by particular sax players a little uncomfortable at times. Good tunes. Oliver Nelson kills.
