| | U F O Strangers In The Night CD (1979)
Unforgiven World Tour
$12.15 Recorded live at The Amphitheatre, Chicago, Illinois; The Gardens, Louisville, Kentucky and in Youngstown, Ohio. Includes liner notes by Jon Sutherland.
One of the premier live rock albums of the '70s, STRANGERS features a band at its peak performing all its hits and fan favorites. The album was recorded during two nights in Ohio in 1978, when the band opened for Blue Oyster Cult. This reissue features remastered sound, extended liner notes, and the correct track sequencing.
The album's two bonus tracks, "Hot 'N' Ready" and "Cherry," get the album started in supreme hard-rock fashion. "Out in the Street" shows why Phil Mogg is overlooked as one of the premier hard-rock vocalists of his era, while "Only You Can Rock Me" features the guitar prowess of Michael Schenker. "Doctor Doctor" is probably the band's most well-known song, and this live version is more powerful than the studio original. The same can be said of "Lights Out," the title track of the band's most successful album. The band comes together and kicks it hard on the thunderous "Rock Bottom." Combining elements of metal, ...
| | U F O Force It CD (2008) (Import) Remastered; United Kingdom
Unforgiven World Tour
$10.25 This remastered edition of UFO's 1975 album FORCE IT contains "Let It Roll," "Mother Mary," Shoot Shoot," and more.
If UFO has one addition to rock's pantheon of classic albums, this is it. FORCE IT builds on its predecessor, PHENOMENON, by taking the band further away from their fuzzier, space-rocking early records. Guitarist Michael Schenker's playing has a new toughness and clarity that perfectly frames the more melodic, hook-oriented songwriting he developed in tandem with ...
| | VH1 Presents The Corrs Live In Dublin CD (2002)
Unforgiven World Tour
$6.79 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, despite creditable efforts via an anthemized version of Ryan Adams' beautifully downtempo "When the Stars Go Blue," and a great, leering rendition of Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra's "Summer Wine."
Somewhat more mysteriously, Rolling Stone Ron Wood also turns up on what sounds dangerously close to a lounge version of Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing," but this minor faux pas is redeemed by the Irish folk medley "Joy of Life/Trout in the Bath" which arguably features more full-on Irishness than the Dublin production of RIVERDANCE. There's also a lovely rendition of Neil Young's ...

| | Dredg Catch Without Arms CD (2005)
Unforgiven World Tour
$8.49 Early on, critics often described Dredg as a metal group. However, the quartet has since matured into a hard-edged indie-rock ensemble that seeks diversity and refinement in its music. On CATCH WITHOUT ARMS, the band favors highly orchestrated parts, dense guitar riffs, and powerful drumming. Each song is based around memorable vocal hooks and sensitive lyrical content.
Many tracks on CATCH WITHOUT ARMS have a searching quality to them. Despite the sheer force of the music, this release is ultimately marked by well constructed melodies and intriguing harmonic underpinnings. This is due in part to singer Gavin Hayes, who sounds more like U2's Bono than a metal screecher. Hayes's tenor soars above tunes such ...
| | R E M Reveal CD (2001)
Unforgiven World Tour
$8.69 While the preceding UP equaled Michael Stipe, Mike Mills, and Peter Buck spending their studio time painstakingly stitching songs together via multiple overdubs, REVEAL finds the Athens trio playing together in the studio along with hired guns Scott McCaughey (Young Fresh Fellows), Ken Stringfellow (The Posies), and drummer Joey Waronker (Beck). In bouncing back from drummer Bill Berry's departure, the group has emerged with a warm-sounding record bubbling over with dreamy pop songs.
From the opening number "The Lifting," with its swirling textures, sparse piano, and Stipe's plainspoken enunciation, R.E.M. serve up heaping dollops of aural manna. Among the many highlights are the throbbing twang-and-strum of "All The Way To Reno (You're Gonna Be A Star)," which sounds like Mark Knopfler fronting The Flaming Lips, and the faux PET SOUNDS-outtake "Summer Turns To High" with its shimmering ...
