Personnel: Gloria Lynne (vocals); Kenny Burrell (guitar); Sam "The Man" Taylor (tenor saxophone); Harry "Sweets" Edison (trumpet); Wild Bill Davis (organ); Eddie Costa (vibraphone); Jo Jones (drums). Liner Note Author: Nat Hentoff. Recording information: New York, NY (11/01/1958). Gloria Lynne was a twenty-something comer when this album was originally recorded in 1958. Since then, she has moved into other areas, notably soul. But at the time these tunes were cut, she was working in the jazzy blues and standards territory that proved quite profitable for Nancy Wilson, Dakota Station, and several others through the '60s. Lynne had a joyous, soulful delivery and a clear, piercing style, building the tension and smoothly striding with the beat rather than competing with it. Lynne had a first-class band: veteran swing era trumpeter Harry Edison, honking tenor saxophonist Sam Taylor, bombastic organist Wild Bill Davis, bluesy guitarist Kenny Burrell, and vibist Eddie Costa in a rare complementary role were among the stars assisting her. While this is a woefully short CD (less than 37 minutes), the range of material and Lynne's mellow yet forceful vocals are good compensation for the lack of bonus cuts. ~ Ron Wynn Miss Gloria Lynne Songs | 1. | April in Paris | $0.99 | |

| Miss Gloria Lynne Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) Long Lost Love Song My mother had this album in the late 50's. I loved all the songs, but especially "Little Fingers". When my daughter was born in 1963, I used to sing a phrase from it,"...I'll remember when you're older, and your head has reached my shoulders, how I used to call you 'little fingers'..". For years I have searched for an album with this song, but for whatever reason thought it was Dinah Washington--more proof that Gloria Lynne didn't receive the recognition she should have had. It was just by chance I found it on your site. I'm so thrilled at finding it. Thanks for making it easy. Submitted by Pat K. (Las Vegas, NV, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
GREAT!! GREAT!! GREAT!!!!!
There is no other like Gloria Lynne, it's such a great shame that she hasn't
gotten the reconition that she so richly deserves. Shame on the music industry and the media for their lack of attention for such a great talent !! Submitted by Feleria1212 (Philadelphia, PA, USA ")) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Before they could release a second album of their patented good-time hippie acoustic swing, Hicks and his band parted company with Epic records.
