All music written by Randy Edelman. Original score composed by Randy Edelman. This fifth anniversary edition of the GETTYSBURG soundtrack includes 60 minutes of previously unreleased music. Includes liner notes by Ted Turner. All music written by Randy Edelman. Gettysburg was an ambitious epic detailing one of the most famous battles in the American Civil War. Appropriately, the soundtrack is grand, dramatic, and stirring. In fact, the incidental music works better as an individual entity than most soundtracks and is arguably more compelling than portions of the overly long movie. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine It seems a little strange to be celebrating a fifth anniversary, especially for a movie that was a box office disappointment and earned only a following so small that it could be barely called a cult. Strangely enough, a bigger cult formed around Randy Edelman's score, and that explains the release of Gettysburg: Special Fifth Anniversary Deluxe Commemorative Edition, a double-disc set packaged like a book that features new liner notes, unreleased photos, the Gettysburg Address as read by Jeff Daniels, and over an hour of unreleased music. For true fans of the score and film, this is absolutely essential, but for anyone curious about the music, the original single-disc remains the best way to become acquainted with this wonderful score. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine Gettysburg Soundtrack Music | List Price | $18.98 (You save $2.83) | | Category | Rock/Pop Albums, Soundtrack CDs, Musical | | Label | Milan | | Orig Year | 1993 | | All Time Sales Rank | 9591 | | CD Universe Part number | 1045162 | | Catalog number | 35654 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Sep 28, 1993 | | Studio/Live | Studio | | Mono/Stereo | Stereo | | Producer | Randy Edelman; David Franco | | Recording Time | 57 minutes | | Additional Info | Original Soundtrack |

Whelan's familiar, amped-up take on the Chieftains is supplemented here by harmonically brave a cappella refrains and even the fusion-minded use of Spanish guitar and flamenco rhythms. Whelan has written six new songs for this production, which features vocals by Brian Kennedy and Tsidii Le Loka (who has appeared in Broadway's The Lion King as Rafiki). The album thus presents the most comprehensive and up-to-date version of the evolving Riverdance phenomenon. Whelan is what many critics hate most--a consistent crowd pleaser. -Jerry McCulley

Gettysburg Soundtrack
$6.79 Liner Note Author: Scott Schinder. Yvonne Elliman is remembered for her hit from Saturday Night Fever, the luminous "If I Can't Have You," and that's about it. That's too bad because she was a pretty nice soft rock/easy disco singer who released some fine records in the '70s. 20th Century Masters: The Best of Yvonne Elliman shows her gentle way with a ballad on the lovely cover of the Eagles' "Best of My Love," her breathy take on the Neil Sedaka-penned "Baby Don't Let It Mess With Your Mind," and her first hit, "I Don't Know How to Love Him," from the cast album of Jesus Christ Superstar. It also shows she could handle a sexy groove on her sly cover of Barbara Lewis' "Hello Stranger" and the Barry and Robin Gibb-written "Love Me." She wasn't always handed the best of material to work with as the cheesy "Love Pains" and "Everything Must Change" show, but even on these tracks her winning charms rule the day. The only thing this collection doesn't do is improve on the best-of disc Polydor released in 1997 and has since deleted. That set included her stunning cover of the Who's "I Can't Explain" as well as a sweet Artie Wayne ballad, "From the Inside," and two rock-hard takes on Traffic's "Can't Find My Way Home." In fact these three songs are better than anything on 20th Century Masters apart from "If I Can't Have ...
