Simply put, this disc is indispensable for anyone interested in blues, rock, or good music in general. One of the rare, genuine "deals" on record store shelves, this two-fer compiles Howlin' Wolf's first two full-length albums on one CD and offers twenty-two tracks of the man's absolute finest. These are the essential documents of the man who was the last word in electric Chicago blues--a unique and ...

Let's Hide Away And Dance Away
$9.65 The giant left-handed guitarist was no stranger to the recording studio by 1966, but Albert King had still to make his mark with the record-buying public. When he linked up with the cream of Stax's Memphis musicians, including Booker T. And The MGs and the Memphis Horns, that connection ...
| | Mike Bloomfield Super Session CD (1968) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Let's Hide Away And Dance Away
$6.75 A surprise best-seller when it was first released, this mostly improvised pairing of singer/keyboardist/producer Al Kooper with two major guitar heroes of the day sounds fascinating all these years later precisely because of the distance of time--nobody makes records like this any more. The material runs the gamut from folk pop (covers of Donovan and Dylan), to blues ("Albert's Shuffle," "You Don't Love Me"), to heady jams ("His Holy Modal Majesty"), to big-band jazz ("Harvey's Tune").
All the tunes make effective templates for the kind off-the-cuff music-making that in less capable hands might have resulted in simple noodling. In fact, although Bloomfield and Stills don't play together on any of the cuts (Bloomfield played on one side of the original LP, Stills on the other), all three principals get off lots of good licks and producer Kooper has some interesting tricks up his sleeve, as in the over-the-top phasing he lavishes on "You Don't Love Me." The only real disappointment here is that Stills, a far better singer than Kooper, never opens his mouth.
Those familiar with the Live Adventures album these two recorded at the Fillmore West know how brilliant they could ...

Let's Hide Away And Dance Away
$16.15 Yukmouth, sometimes known as Smoke-A-Lot, came to attention as one half of the talented rap duo the Luniz. While Luniz expertly cut their lyrics of raw sexuality and stark violence with a light-heartedness straight out of the Looney Tunes cartoons from which they derived their name, on his own, Yukmouth displays a more straightforward, darker side. On THUGGED OUT and THUG LORD, the titles said it all, Yukmouth is straight-up thug, proud of his West Coast, Rap-A-Lot hip-hop heritage.
On his third solo effort, GODZILLA, he tempers the mix just a bit, retaining the ample hooks which earned him ears from when he had ...
