Stewart's voice is as rough as his pencil sketches and worn as Route 66 itself. It speaks of lonely, distant places with more than just words. This is brought further to light through the contrast with his sweet voiced wife Buffy Ford in "Interview With an Angel." Another Folk Era album, Live at the Turf Inn, Scotland, presents the two together. This prolific songwriter wrote "Molly Dee" for Kingston Trio, joined the trio for much of the '60s for 12 albums. He then left to write "Daydream Believer" for the Monkees. A very American singer/songwriter more than deserving of his Phoenix-based cult following. ~ Tom Schulte
Recording information: Day One Studios, Novato, CA.
Personnel: Buffy Ford (vocals).
Liner Note Author: John Stewart.

Rough Sketches music CDs
$15.29 This compilation contains 38 songs, including many new remixes from original master tapes, 6 previously unreleased songs, alternate versions of 3 others, and a comprehensive 36 page booklet, with historic liner notes and photos.
This excellent two-disc collection captures Poco's finest moments from the days when they were laying down the template for all the country-rock music that was to follow. It's hard to remember, but when the Eagles first hit the scene, they were thought by many to be a Poco-wannabe band. Listen to this set and you'll hear why. The Forgotten Trail (1969-1974) culls ...
| | Ozark Mountain Daredevils Car Over The Lake Album CD (1975)
Rough Sketches songs
$12.79 The Ozark Mountain Daredevils' third album for A&M continues their good-natured Southern chooglin' with hints of a newfound mid-70s AM pop vibe. Although it was recorded in Nashville, The Car Over the Lake Album has a distinctly Californian vibe on several tracks, particularly those written and sung by drummer Larry Lee, whose contributions could ride along "Ventura Highway" ...

| | Judge Fletcher From The Heart CD (2006)
Rough Sketches music CDs
$13.69 Judge Fletcher’s vocal talents are a product of his up bringing as well as his undying determination to excel. His deep resonant bass tones are enjoyed by many and, as he ages, it only gets better. He began singing early in life. He grew up in an a capella church and was blessed with a large extended family who were members of the same denomination. At family get-togethers, such as Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter, the family would set aside part of every evening to sing their favorite hymns, and the vocal harmonies were as tight as any professional choir. While in high school, Fletcher learned what it meant to perform music, not just sing it. He sang in the choir and acted in the school musicals all 4 years, He also participated in local and state wide vocal competitions. In his sophomore year, Judge claimed 2nd chair for basses in the state of Texas. His best friend from church beat him out by a tenth of a point for 1st chair. On Fletcher's 16th birthday a friend of his parents from church gave Judge the guitar that he had learned to play on. “My poor parents didn’t sleep for months,” Fletcher says, “until I learned how to play a little. After that, they really didn’t sleep because I would play along with the radio into the wee hours of the morning.” On his 18th birthday, he traded in that guitar for the 12-string Yamaha that he still plays today. At 22, with his guitar in hand and a few songs he had written, Judge hopped a bus to a little town outside of Houston, Texas where his second cousin had just opened a recording studio. He recorded the album “From the Heart” and released 500 copies on cassette tape and printed 500 singles on 45s. Recently, the tape went back into the studio and it was transferred from tape to CD.Fletcher joined the Marine ...
