| Revelations Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) Very Good!!! A collection of tracks from the masters of goth-rock. It shows the early innovation, and showcases the talent of the true godfathers of goth. Though the two disc set is highly recommended. I still beleive buying their entire cd catalog is your best bet when it comes to getting to know FotN. Trust me, it is worth every penny..... The Original Cowboys From Hell Fields Of The Nephilim (or The Original Cowboys From Hell, due to their spaghetti western outfits) is another Goth legend. REVELATIONS (1993) offer a retrospective of FOTN music, covering the 1989/1990 area. REVELATIONS is a BEST OF that contains some already released material along with some hard-to-find songs (Blue Water, for exemple), and offer a live version of DAWNRAZOR.
A great CD for those who doesn't own anything from FOTN, but it would have been kind to release a more meaty retrospective album (like the original 2 record set with some extra goodies...). Nevertheless, you'll have to pick up this album if you don't want to buy the whole catalog. Submitted by thegrey (Sherbrooke, QC) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$19.98 When Jon Anderson rejoined Yes after DRAMA, he was inserting himself into an unusual situation. Keyboardist Geoff Downes and longtime guitarist Steve Howe had left to form Asia with prog rock vets John Wetton (King Crimson, Roxy Music etc.) and Carl Palmer (ELP). Chris Squire and Alan White brought original Yes keysman Tony Kaye back and recruited vibrant young Australian guitarist/vocalist/composer Trevor Rabin. The quartet had already begun writing and recording, but Anderson was able to insert himself into the proceedings with such ease that the new combination sounds completely natural on 90125.
Mostly, the band was concerned with trimming the musical fat to keep pace with the onslaught of the ...
| | Michael Buble Crazy Love CD (2009)
Revelations
$15.05 Buoyed by the popularity of the hit contemporary pop ballad "Home," singer Michael Bublé's 2005 album, IT'S TIME, clearly positioned the vocalist as the preeminent neo-crooner of his generation. Easily the singer's most stylistically wide-ranging album so far, 2009's CRAZY LOVE is also one of his brightest, poppiest, and most fun. Bublé kicks things off with the theatrical, epic ballad "Cry Me a River" and proceeds to milk the tune with burnished breath, eking out the drama line by line. It's over the top for sure, but Bublé takes you to the edge of the cliff, prepares to jump, and then gives you a knowing wink that says, not quite yet -- there's more fun to be had. And what fun it is with Bublé swinging through "All of Me," and killin' Van Morrison's classic "Crazy Love" with a light and yearning touch. And just as "Home" worked to showcase Bublé's own writing abilities, here we get the sunshine pop of "Haven't Met You Yet" -- a skippy, jaunty little song that brings to mind a mix of the Carpenters and Chicago. Throw in a rollicking and soulful duet with Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings on "Baby (You've Got What It Takes)," and a fabulously old-school close-harmony version of "Stardust" with Bublé backed by the vocal ensemble Naturally 7, and CRAZY LOVE really starts to come together. Then ...

| | Atlas Sound Logos CD (2009)
Revelations
$11.64 Bradford Cox was a virtual song machine during the time between Deerhunter's CRYPTOGRAMS and the Atlas Sound's LOGOS, churning out officially released material as well as plenty of songs only available on his blog. Over that span of time, he became a finer and more fluid songwriter, and his music emerged from the experimental fog of his earlier work just enough to give listeners tantalizing glimpses of almost ridiculously catchy songs. LOGOS keeps this push-pull between challenging and charming, yet Cox's second solo album still feels more experimental than Deerhunter, if only because he seems completely unfettered by any kind of rules or concerns about consistency. These songs barely sound like each other, yet they all sound like Cox. LOGOS comes into focus slowly with its first three songs. "The Light That Failed"'s hazy atmospheres slip effortlessly into "An Orchid"'s spectral recall of MICROCASTLE's psych-pop, but it's "Walkabout," Cox's irresistibly sunny collaboration with Animal Collective and Panda Bear's Noah Lennox, that announces that the album has truly arrived--it's as sudden, and satisfying, ...
| | Pink Martini Splendor In The Grass CD (2009) Digipak
Revelations
$13.14 Pink Martini follow the around-the-world-in-a-dozen-songs thrills of HEY EUGENE! with SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS, a mellower, simpler set of small pleasures. These are relative terms, however; the group's music is still well-traveled, with China Forbes singing in five languages (English, Spanish, Neapolitan, French, and Italian) instead of the six or so on EUGENE!. However, Pink Martini opt for a more unified sound here, one that draws on the more straightforward lounge-pop of their debut, SYMPATHIQUE, and the mellowness of '60s and '70s pop. SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS' first half is especially smooth, opening with the beautifully soft Neapolitan ballad "Ninna Nanna" and the title track, on which Forbes sings "I think we should take it slow" over swooping strings, brass, and piano that resurrect the glory days of AM pop; that feeling is echoed by the cover of Joe Raposo's "Sing," the Sesame Street song that gained popularity ...

"Sharp" Canupp was born and raised in the small southern Cotton Mill Town of Cooleemee in the Piedmont section of North Carolina. His Great-Grandfather came to the Little Mill Village shortly after the mill and the village were built in the early 1900's. He came from Cabarrus Co. NC to work in the mill. His Grandfather also worked in the mill as a young boy barely in his teens. This is where he met Canupp's Grandmother as she had also went to work in the mill as a young girl. They married in 1912 and lived in the Little Mill Village until they decided to buy a house of their own in North Cooleemee. They were the parents of 8 children, and one of them was Sharp's father. His Mother and Father both worked in the Cotton Mill, and his Dad had over 40 years in the mill when it closed in 1969... They lived in 4 differen't mill houses as a family and when the mill sold the houses in 1953 his parents bought one...Both sets of his Grandparents and several Aunts and Uncles and almost all of his other relatives worked in the mill including "Sharp" and 2 of his siblings at some time or another... Following is a quote from "Sharp" Canupp----"Some of the fondest memories of my life were in this Little Mill Village as I grew into adulthood... It was an experience that only someone who had lived in the "family-type" environment ...
