It's difficult to beat a collection that has as much to offer as this one does. OH, MERGE, issued in celebration of Merge Records' tenth anniversary, features the work of 20 great artists on 20 tracks that were either previously unreleased or especially hard to find. Though there's no single stylistic thread that links all these artists, it is clear from listening to this collection that Merge boasts a tremendously talented pool of musicians.

"So Much Hate," from East River Pipe, is a gorgeous, melancholy tune. Guv'ner is heroically goofy, with its cover of an old '50s song, "Lucky Ladybug." Superchunk blows down the walls of Jericho with its terrific contribution of "Clover." But beware, OH, MERGE might very well make you want to purchase everything Merge has ever released.
