More textured and funkier than their debut album, Zhane's second record Saturday Night is an infectious set of percolating funk, club beats, and new jack harmonies. The songs aren't always as strong as the performances, but Zhane's vocal charisma makes such shortcomings forgivable. ~ Leo Stanley

Rolling Stone (6/12/97, p.116) - 3 Stars (out of 5) - "...an old-fashioned ode to good times....Even when Zhane muse on love, it's in an innocent, Carole King kind of way....the duo's sexy, smooth sound will--at the very least--make you move..." Q (5/97, p.129) - 3 Stars (out of 5) - "...This is another supreme example of their art; within minutes, tracks like 'Request Line' are slapping down the bass and butts are, ahem, shaking..."
the best CD I love this group, Zhane has such a unique style and sound that can’t be duplicated. Zhane has proven they can sing with a hip hop, jazz or acaplea style and with class. As most of you I have both of their CD’s and they did get better with the 2nd DC. A group like this you buy two copies of each CD on you play and the other you keep unopened. When you have talent like this record labels should back these group, radio play time, etc. ZHANE UR da best! Ya feel me Submitted by Lil' Rob (Los Angeles, CA) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
Brilliant I don't know what happened to Zhane, but in any case we still have this stunning piece of work to cherish. Such quality production is lacking nowadays for sure, as are any comparable female duos. Floetry came tantalizingly close with their first effort, but they fell apart on their second CD. Floetry's rise and fall is in direct contrast to Zhane. Zhane only got better from their first CD to this second one. No wonder VH1 Soul still plays their videos regularly. What to listen for here you ask? Well my favorites are "Request Line", "This Song Is For You", "Just Like That", and "Piece It Together". Then you have a back drop of supporting tunes like "For The Longest Time", "Rendez-vous", "Kindness For Granted", "Temporary Thing", "Confusion", and "Color". In short the whole CD is a masterpiece. So talented they were, listen to how easily they transition from that hip hop'ish sound to actual "singin" with Will Downing. This is easily one of the top 10 CDs of the 90's and one of the best you'll hear in your life. Submitted by Marcusj_j (Aurora, IL, USA) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo

Amazing... I was so excited when I found this cd on cduniverse.com! I bought this album when it JUST came out. I mean the very day it hit stores in Montreal and I was SO excited! Anyway, I listened to the album EVERY night before I went to bed for 5 years... and then I lost it. When I lost it I was crushed... and now I've found it again! It's AMAZING! I think every true r&b fan should have this album in their collection. They are surely missed. Submitted by Cary (Miami) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
A duo sorely missed........ You know, I really think this CD never got enough attention. This duo was such a breath of fresh air, and somebody went and closed the window! It did take me a while to get to know it well, but it is so worth every listen. Highlights on this CD include: Crush, This Song is For You, My Word is Bond, rendezvous, and Confusion. The whole effort has a breezy, feel good vibe just as their first one did. You oughta own it!!!!! Submitted by Fred (The Mighty Niagara) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
