This 1999 reissue includes two bonus tracks not on the original release.
Originally released on Gordy (918). Includes liner notes by Harry Weinger.
All tracks have been digitally remastered using 24-bit technology.
The marvelous title track alone, with Eddie Kendricks gliding into the stratosphere, made this an instant winner. There were several fine songs that weren't hits, such as "Not Now, I'll Tell You Later" and "I've Been Good to You," and there sure wasn't anything wrong with powerhouse cuts like "Ain't Too Proud to Beg." The Temptations would score four straight number one hits in the mid-'60s, each one an unforgettable classic. ~ Ron Wynn

This has to be one of the greatest earlier albums that this group has ever recorded. I've been a die hard temp fan from the begining.

Why Berry Gordy did not give in to David Ruffin's whim I will never understand. Once Ruffin left the group the Temps were never the same.
David could have performed such hits as 'Ball of Confusion' adding much more dimension than his unfortunate replacement. The Temptations never reached their full potential on account of silly egos and poor decisions. Both Ruffin and Gordy should be ashamed of themselves...

'Gettin' Ready' is one of my favorite Temptation lp's! This Lp is just classic Motown Soul, featuring the big hits 'Get Ready', 'Ain't To Proud To Beg', 'Fading Away'.. also two of my favorite Paul Williams leads on 'Lonely, Lonely Man Am I' love the background hamories on this song! and 'Who You Gonna Run To' and Eddie's joyful lead on 'Too Busy Thinking About My Baby', and David on 'Say You' i've always felt that this song is underrated in the Temps catalog, I just love it. This cd includes two bonus tracks, This lp marked a turning point for the Temps because 'Get Ready' didn't hit the tep ten on the pop charts Berry Gordy felt it wasn't a hit(GR was a #1 R&B hit) so Smokey Robinson was no longer the main producer for them and the Norman Whitfield years began, (personally I like alot of the Norman productions but the Smokey years are my favorites) no soul collection should not be without this wonderful set of songs.

Outstanding mid-60's music from the Temptations. Listeners who appreciate ballads should listen carefully to "Who You Gonna Run To" and "The Man Who Don't Believe In Love". I cannot understand why the latter was not previously released. I believe the late Paul Williams sang lead on both.
Major hits on this LP include "Ain't Too Proud To Beg" and "Get Ready". I have been a Motown/Temptations fan for 40 years.
