With personnel changes and neglect from a key member of the band, it's amazing ANIMALIZE turned out as well as it did. This record shows Kiss was able to rise above all the groups who copied a style of music that Kiss originated.
After LICK IT UP, "creative differences" pushed lead guitarist Vinnie Vincent out and speed demon Mark St. John in. Without missing a lick, St. John was able to fill Vincent's shoes admirably. Also around this time, Gene Simmons decides to try his hand at acting, starring in such films as "Runaway" and "Wanted Dead Or Alive". Thus, he is listed as Associate Producer but in reality had minimal input. Producer Paul Stanley did a fine job putting his own personal technical stamp on the album. Stanley sings on "I've Had Enough (Into The Fire)," a fast and furious track with motivational lyrics. He also fills in on bass for Simmons on both singles, "Heaven's On Fire" and "Thrills In The Night." Lyrically, Simmon's songs reflect where he was in the 80's with titles like "Burn Bitch Burn" and "Murder In High Heels".
Recorded at Right Track Studio, New York, New York. Includes liner notes by Robert V. Conte.
Kiss: Paul Stanley, Mark St. John (vocals, guitar); Gene Simmons (vocals, bass); Eric Carr (drums).
Producers: Paul Stanley, Michael James Jackson.

There's no such thing as a bad KISS album... KISS always makes great albums but this one is my least favorite of the '80s period. I would only buy this one if you're a diehard KISS fan like i am. Stand-out tracks include: Heaven's On Fire, Thrills In The Night, And Under The Gun. Submitted by futurefelon13 (Grand Rapids, MI, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
dedication to eric and mark. animalize is screaming hair rock that is so addictive!. i'd say that kiss is better at both eras the glam 70's and the metal 80's. under the gun is speedy. heaven's on fire deserved to be a hit hell, all of these songs can befeatued in guitar hero or something. problem is the new darker metal stuff now sounds too dark and LOUD!. i must have had ears of tin due to all the heavy metal in the 70's or 80's or 90's. most records are too loud and noisy for the sake of it. i say i enjoy dragonforce but this should do nicely. get animalize!. r.i.p mark and especially you eric. This album was ahead of it's time !!!!! I am a diehard Kiss fan , but i have mixed feelings about this album. As a drummer , I think Eric Carr was executing his drum fills perfectly. The draw-back to this album is Mark St.John and his Tremelo Bar. Mark overused the tremelo bar . overall , the songs were awesome and the production was awesome Submitted by pearldude90 (Washington, NC , USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Animalize album
$6.49 Taking a dip in sales with their previous effort UNMASKED, Kiss decided to deliver a more hard-driving rock album and enlisted the aid of Bob Ezrin, the man who produced DESTROYER (their most successful studio album). Upon his hiring, Ezrin discarded the heavy rock demos Kiss had recorded and suggested the band experiment with a concept album, a Kissified version of THE WALL.
Disgruntled at the band's new direction, Ace Frehley only contributed one track, "Dark Light" (featuring a blistering solo), and aside from basic tracks, the rest of the record was completed without him. THE ELDER is a creative left turn for the band. Kiss brought in co-writers Tony Powers ("Odyssey", "The Oath") and Lou Reed ("Dark Light", "A World Without Heroes", "Mr. Blackwell") to contribute to this epic fantasy, and the result is some magnificent music. The American ...

Animalize CD music
$6.49 On the heels of the unusual MUSIC FROM THE ELDER, Kiss decided to return to their hard rock roots with CREATURES and the result is their heaviest-sounding album to date. Unfortunately, Ace Frehley (frustrated by his diminishing role in the group) departed the band prior to recording. He was replaced by Vinnie Vincent, who contributed some lightning-fast riffs.
From the monstrous drum fill that opens the record, it is clear that the grease painted warriors mean business. The ...

September 18, 1983 is a day that will go down in Kisstory. It was then that Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, and replacement members Vinnie Vincent and Eric Carr took off their signature makeup and revealed themselves on MTV. LICK IT UP was released, and a new chapter unfolded.
Using the same production team as CREATURES OF THE NIGHT, Michael James Jackson, Simmons and Stanley came up with the same bone crunching sound ...

Following the departure of Ace Frehley in 1982, a revolving door of lead guitarists began which concluded with Bruce Kulick, whose tenure in the group lasted longer than Ace's. Bruce had played with a younger, harder edged Michael Bolton and his style of speedy yet emotive playing fit right in with Kiss' style.
Produced by Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, ASYLUM retains the raw power of the previous 80's Kiss records, ...

Reaching a pop apex not seen since 1980's UNMASKED, Kiss enlisted the production and engineering talents of Ron Nevison (Ozzy Osbourne, Heart) to help the band compete with the light metal faire that existed in 1987. The results are impressive, as the melodic crunch ...
