For fans who want an excellent but not overwhelming selection of Rodgers' music, there are two solid choices: RCA's single-disc Essential Jimmie Rodgers collection or ASV/Living Era's two-part retrospective, of which Train Whistle Blues is the first. Some of Rodgers' best songs are here, among them "Blue Yodel No. 4 (California Blues)," "Hobo Bills' Last Ride," "Waiting for a Train," and "My Rough and Rowdy Ways." Individually, the two discs aren't as brilliant as ASV collectors are accustomed to, but together they paint a more complete picture of Rodgers' art. There is one essential item missing in "Muleskinner Blues," but just about everything else is adequately covered. ~ Jim Smith
TRAIN WHISTLE BLUES is a little short at 16 tracks, but no other single-disc Jimmie Rodgers compilation focuses so completely on his early recordings, including several songs that other compilations put aside because they don't fit the received wisdom on what Jimmie Rodgers "should" sound like. For example, the set kicks off with "Jimmie's Mean Mama Blues," a song that is as much New Orleans jazz (complete with piano and cornet) as it is country. Later on, "Travellin' Blues" utilizes a weepy violin (as opposed to fiddle) line as its musical lead and features a Rodgers vocal that owes much to the country blues tradition. Some of Rodgers' classics are missing -- no "T For Texas," no "Muleskinner Blues" -- but those looking for a secondary compilation to follow the purchase of THE ESSENTIAL JIMMIE RODGERS (still the best starting point) should invest in TRAIN WHISTLE BLUES.

Eunice nació el tres de Junio en la ciudad de México, y desde muy temprana edad cantaba participando en eventos y corales dentro y fuera de la Iglesia. Su don no vino de la noche a la mañana ya que su familia siempre ha estado envuelta en la música, su abuelo Miguel Rodríguez, formo parte del “Trió Israel” como voz principal y uno de sus tíos también participo en los grupos “La Última Llamada” y “Gente de Jesús”. Su familia entera formaron un grupo llamado “Kerigma” en el cual, también ella participaba cantando y tocando el piano. Su familia apoyo a varias Iglesias estableciendo equipos de alabanza y adoración y por supuesto llevando el evangelio. Siendo sus padres miembros activos de las Iglesias de Centro de Fe, Esperanza y Amor, ella desde los 10 años de edad apoyaba como asistente de maestra en la escuela dominical y fue en un retiro de niños que acepto al Señor y fue llena del Espíritu Santo, en ese momento sintió el llamado de Dios a prepararse para ser misionera al salir de sus estudios secundarios; debido a la necesidad que nació en su corazón por alcanzar al perdido, pero Dios ya tenia otros planes para ella. A los 12 años de edad sus padres planearon moverse a California, EEUU a llevar el evangelio. A su corta edad fue la primer líder de alabanza y adoración en una de las iglesias que con su familia apoyaban.Aunque nació en cuna cristiana, en su juventud ella estuvo alejada de Dios pero El Señor en su infinita misericordia y amor no la soltó de su mano y ella como el hijo prodigo regreso al redil. Dándole esta experiencia una nueva y fresca razón para cantar y componer las experiencias vividas durante este difícil tiempo y lo más hermoso fue saber que tenía un Dios que la amaba y estaba dispuesto a perdonarla. En el año de 1995 contrajo matrimonio con Juan C. Pérez que es su fiel esposo y compañero en batalla, dándole el Señor sus dos más preciados regalos, sus hijas Zurysadai y Hanameel. Eunice había participado en varios eventos y conferencias ministrando a través del canto. También fue líder de alabanza en varias iglesias donde daba clases de vocalización y formaba coros para las mismas. Aunque varias personas le habían sugerido grabar ella no quiso hacerlo hasta que el Señor le confirmara que esa era su Voluntad. En Noviembre del 2008 el Señor confirmó el deseo de su corazón y abrió las puertas para que ella pudiera grabar su primer y esperado álbum, “Promesas” y así empezar con el propósito de llevar el evangelio a todo el mundo.
