Originally entitled Still, this recording was essentially a sequel to the King Crimson album Islands, and makes an important addition to any serious Crimson collection. Sinfield takes one more bite of an orchestra-and-Mellotron-flavored apple that Crimson itself declined to try, and the results are close to the Islands-era band. Sinfield reveals himself a pleasant if breathy singer, and a capable guitarist, but the real center of this album are the lyrics ("I need to suck the breasts of time and freeze her milk in ink" beats out anything Keith Reid ever wrote for sheer surrealism) and the elegant arrangements. No Crimson album ever had room for an extended English horn solo like the one here. Greg Lake runs rings around Sinfield as a singer on "Wholefood Boogie." In addition to the previously unreleased opening track, "Can You Forgive A Fool," the highlights include the jazzy "Night People," the haunting country-flavored "Will It Be You," and the Vivaldi-derived "Song of the Sea Goat." ~ Bruce Eder

CELLO BLUE was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best New Age Album.
This classically trained cellist may be familiar to new age listeners from his early works with the Paul Winter Consort or from his 20-year-strong solo career in the genre. Adjectives like "warmly lyrical," "soulful," and "contemplative" come to mind, and his sparse arrangements are unique in that he creates a personal string orchestra of multiple cellos with piano and keyboards (not to mention lush nighttime nature sound effects). That said, it's mostly a soft, serene vibe experience that cares more about an aural caress effect than offering anything distinctive melodically. There's a heavy, dark emotional feeling as well. Still, some of the titles offer a few tidbits for the listener's imagination. "Children" has a sweeping orchestral effect, while "Prayer and Word" plays like a gloomy day in the forest. There's a little more improvisational energy on "Awakening," but part of it feels like it's just an orchestra tuning up. Lovers of pure ambience will best enjoy "Morning," with its crisp running water, chirping birds, and distant, high-ivory tones. ~ Jonathan Widran

Loretta Siani is a clinical hypnotherapist, a practitioner of Neuro-Liguistic Psychology, trainer, speaker and author of many articles on the power of the mind. She is author of the book The Magic of Excellence, which overviews the history, principles and practices of Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Dr. Siani, is a member of the American Board of Hypnotherapy, the International Stress Management Association, the League of Medical Hypnotherapists, the Meditation Society of America and has eighteen years experience in helping people accomplish their goals. Formerly Sales Training Manager for the Business Services Division of Office Depot's Western Region, she has coached and trained a variety of people including corporate executives, entrepreneurs, students and experienced sales people. She holds a Master of Arts in Communications from Pepperdine University where she served on the adjunct faculty teaching Interpersonal Communications and a Doctoral Degree in Clinical Hypnotherapy from American Pacific University.
