Mannheim's keyboardist and mastermind Chip Davis has made a long, profitable career out of combining classical-tinged orchestrations with various pop traditions in an instrumental context. Davis takes his modus operandi to its next logical step on MEETS THE MOUSE, where he tackles the Disney Songbook. Classic tunes like "Chim Chim Cher-ee" and "Heigh-Ho" rub shoulders with more recent Disney-derived compositions like Randy Newman's "You've Got a Friend in Me." Throughout, the themes are picked up by Davis' keyboards and a flexible orchestra that sounds equally at home with the classical influences in Davis' arrangements and the timeless pop craftsmanship of the songs.

Can't get it to play This is probably a really cool album, but I could not get it to play in the DVD-A player in my Acura TL. Not really sure why; every other DVD-A play fine. It also has aside for use in DVD-video players, but this also didn't work in the DVD-video player of my Honda Odyssey. I haven't yet had the opportunity to try it on one of the standalone DVD players in my house. Apparently I'm not the only one who has had this problem. Zipadeedoodah! What's not to like here? Chip Davis' orchestrations of classic Disney film soundtracks are clearly recognizable but are unique to themselves as well.
And in discrete 5.1 surround no less. Unbelievable. I really enjoyed the advanced resolution possible in the DVD-Audio format, especially with the music provided by a genius like Mr. Davis.
