White Cannibal music CDs

Sam Cooke was a giant not just in the soul world, but in the larger scheme of American music. His melding of soul, gospel, and pop was as trenchant as it was revolutionary and influential. This unbeatable 30-song compilation touches on every aspect of this phenomenally gifted singer-songwriter's career. The romantic croon of "You Send Me" shares space with the mournful "Sad Mood," the romping "Twistin' the Night Away," and the moving social/spiritual statement "A Change Is Gonna Come" (this compilation is one of the rare collections to have this stirring and sought-after track). For pure fun, it's hard to beat the humor-filled "Another Saturday Night." Perhaps the master stroke, though, is "Havin' a Party." As no less esteemed a personage than Bruce Springsteen once observed, it's an ostensibly celebratory song that seems to bear a deep sadness via Cooke's vocal performance, a sense of laughing to keep from crying. At the same time, Cooke manages the considerable feat of making loneliness sound like fun. It takes some kind of singer to pull off a trick like that. And it takes some kind of production team (take a bow, Teri Landi and Jody Klein) to bring such vibrant new life to the legendary material so lovingly remastered and repackaged for this top-shelf compilation.
The greatest single disc Sam Cooke collection ever, 30 tracks from gospel through his greatest hits including 'Touch The Hem Of His Garment', 'You ...
| | Bardo Pond Selections Volumes I-IV CDs (2005)
White Cannibal songs
$16.55 Bardo Pond return with a stunning 2CD set featuring rare, unreleased tracks that have previously only been available in limited numbers as CDRs at the band's live shows
Philadelphia space rockers Bardo Pond pulled together a collection of rare tracks that were previously available only on CDR's sold at their shows. While oddities and B-sides compilations are often hit and miss, Bardo Pond managed to keep the filler level low and instead released a double-disc that provides a fantastic overview of their long career. Formed in the mid- 90s by brothers John and Michael Gibbons, the band never broke big but developed a core cult following. While their sound, replete with droning guitars and hushed vocals, hasn't changed much over the course of their career, all four members have become ...
| | Miles Davis Complete On The Corner Sessions CDs (2007) Box Set
White Cannibal album
$119.45 With a huge cast of accompanists including John McLaughlin, Chick Corea, Bernard Purdie, and many more, Davis definitively transcended the jazz template and fully embraced a new form that incorporated jazz, rock, funk, and the avant garde, but was truly its own beast.
Eschewing harmonic/melodic development, these tracks are powered by shifts in dynamics and texture over percolating grooves, and would prove hugely influential to hip-hop, dub, electronica, and more, for decades to come. By including outtakes and full versions of edited tracks, this collection finally lets the layers of Miles and producer Teo Macero's complex tapestry unfold with the proper breathing room, making it clear why what was initially one of Miles' worst-selling albums would eventually be regarded as a high-water mark even he would never surpass.
In a sense, the 1972 release ON THE CORNER was the culmination ...
