Irish Tour 1974 album for sale by Rory Gallagher was released Sep 14, 1999 on the Buddha label. The companion piece to director Tony Palmer's documentary of the same name, Irish Tour 1974 was recorded that January in Belfast, Dublin, and Cork at a time when precious few performers -- Irish or otherwise -- were even dreaming of touring the trouble-torn island. Northern Ireland, in particular, was a rock & roll no-go area, but Gallagher never turned his back on the province and was rewarded with what history recalls as some of his best-ever gigs. Rory Gallagher is one hell of a guitar player. Now if he only had a better voice... Fine other than the vocals.

||Blues Rock at Its Finest!|
One of the finest live blues/rock albums ever! The sheer emotion of Rory's soul comes blistering through his expressive and explosive guitar playing. From beginning to end, "Irish Tour" is a tour-de-force of musical passion. And the lead guitar solo that ends the song, "Tattoo'd Lady," is surely one of the best guitar solos in the history of rock. Add this CD to your collection without hestitation!

A lot of people rate "Live in Europe" his best, I don't. Irish tour is longer. So if you only decide to own only one of Rorys albums, then for that reason, this is it. Amongst his home country fans singing "nice one Rory", he is simply at his best. Sound quality is exellent. The only problem is you can buy it on DVD!!!! Now there's a thought.

Rory is the ultimate guitar player, and this is the disc that best captures what he was all about: live, real, down and dirty blues. Played with passion and more skill then any other guitarist that's ever lived.

good blues rock is hard to find, and this is a sample of the best. cant figure why my ol vinyl of the 74 tour has the track "just a little bit" and its not on the CD.... shame.
