How often can a debut artist boast of working with the likes of superstar songwriters like Babyface and Diane Warren? 18-year-old Mya can. Aided by top-notch talent including Dru Hill's Sisqo and Nokio and Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliot ("Bye-Bye"), Mya holds up her end of the bargain by delivering one of the sweetest voices in music today. The depth expressed in her songs is impressive for a person of such a young age.
In addition, Mya brings writing skills to the table, co-writing four songs. "It's All About Me," featuring Sisqo, exploded on urban and Top 40 radio. That's not even mentioning "Ghetto Supastar," featuring Pras (Fugees) and Ol' Dirty Bastard (Wu-Tang Clan), which appears on the soundtrack to BULWORTH. Not only are the songs smartly arranged and well crafted, the overall sound of the album is as tight as any contemporary R&B record around.

Sounds Good... I definately could hear Monica and 702 back in the days singing some of her joints. Mya needs a style specifically for her but the album it's slef seems to make a good teenage houseparty saler. Submitted by brakethechain2000 (VA 2 GA) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
What Happend 2 Her? I Always liked Aaliyah Brandy and Monica. Then Mya came out and i was like shes a little diffrent form them but she was cool to me to. But this is the only CD i think is pretty dame good bye her. Like was wasnt THAT bad of a singger her voice had something cool about it and most of the songs on this CD are pretty touching. Now today on her CDs 99% of her songs are about sex. On this CD the songs were about LOVE not SEX. Im only 16 ok but love 90s RnB/Hip Hop, because today everyone in my class lissens to crappy singgers on the radio i wont name them cuz im not mean like that. But anyway i dont care what anyone says SEX is not LOVE. And music often has that mix today. But shame on Mya for falling into that trap. And were is she now the last i herd was her last CD was only came out in Japan if that tell you anything. She could have done more with her music and now here we are 10 years latter and shes gone Submitted by Jesse Latimer (Canada) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo 1 of 3 found this helpful.
