L.A. melodic rockers Dokken broke up at the height of their popularity in 1988, just as they wrapped up touring as part of the mammoth US MONSTERS OF ROCK tour (headlined by Van Halen) and were enjoying one of their most commercially successful records, BACK FOR THE ATTACK. The members went their separate ways for several years (Don Dokken released a solo album, Jeff Pilson joined Dio, while George Lynch and Mick Brown assembled a whole new band, the Lynch Mob), but none of their post-Dokken projects were as successful.
With just about every dormant hard rock act reuniting in the mid/late-'90s, including Kiss, Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, among others, Dokken patched up their differences and issued an in-concert, all-acoustic set of greatest hits, 1995's ONE LIVE NIGHT. Featured are unplugged but still powerful readings of such Dokken standards "Unchain the Night," "Alone Again," "In My Dreams," and "It's Not Love," as well as covers of the Beatles' "Nowhere Man" and ELP's "From the Beginning."
Recorded live at The Strand, Redondo Beach, California on December 13th, 1994.
Dokken: Don Dokken (vocals, acoustic & slide guitars, bass); Jeff Pilson (vocals, acoustic guitar, guitar, piano, acoustic bass, bass); Mick Brown (vocals, percussion, sound effects); George Lynch (acoustic 12-string & electric guitars, sound effects).

One Live Night album
$19.89 Of the "big four" original thrash bands (the other three being Metallica, Anthrax, and Megadeth), Slayer was the least compromising and most consistent. As such, 2009's WORLD PAINTED BLOOD recalled more than the title of Slayer's 1986 masterpiece REIGN IN BLOOD; it shared ...

| | Atreyu Congregation Of The Damned CD (2009)
One Live Night music CDs
$11.65 On their latest effort, Atreyu come with more of the same metalcore that listeners have come to expect from the band. All of the familiar elements are in place, with the alternating screaming/soaring vocals, thundering double bass drumming, and big, crunchy riffage. The difference here is that the band seems to have mellowed out a bit, opting for a more melodic approach. Like their last album, the songs here feel somewhat restrained, like they're just dying ...

| | Save Ferris It Means Everything CD (1997)
One Live Night music CDs
$7.59 Principally recorded at NRG and The Hook, Hollywood, California; Front Page Studios, Burbank, California; Sonica, London, England from April through June 1997.
With the arrival of Save Ferris, the mid-'90s Cali-based ska-punk meltdown officially gets upgraded to an invasion. Full of candy-glossed, R&B-ish horns playing many BPM above the speed limit, four-on-the-floor punk guitars, and downbeat tempo breaks, IT MEANS EVERYTHING, the Orange County septet's full-length debut, is a study in the alterna-ska sound circa No Doubt and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Surprisingly, when Ferris stretch out of the form's musical and lyrical touchstones, they evade the skater's park audience in favor of a retro-lounge style that retains the island lilt. Think Squirrel Nut Zippers go to the Carribean.
"Superspy" is full of dark swing-abilly overtones. On "Goodbye," the band approximate the sound of smoky-bar combo, as Monique Powell applies her finest Billie Holiday imitation. "Lies" is a Frankenstein of disparate traditions as a straight-ahead reggae groove is mixed with 50's pop strings and vocals. Still, the cover of Dexy's Midnight Runners' "Come On Eileen" best illustrates Save Ferris' intentions; punked-up pop, with horns as melodic gifts ...
