| | Motorhead Snake Bite Love CD Motorhead Discography of CDs
(2 Customer Reviews)
Motorhead's last 20th century studio release, 1998's SNAKE BITE LOVE, is cut from the same cigarette-burned, whiskey-soaked cloth as such classic latter-day releases as ORGASMATRON and OVERNIGHT SENSATION. If you were expecting Lemmy and his cohorts to suddenly shift musical gears and try something out of character, you were sadly mistaken.
Motorhead had long perfected their garage metal sound, and offer another helping with SNAKE BITE LOVE. "Assassin" shows off drummer Mikkey Dee's underrated abilities behind the kit, while "Love for Sale," "Dogs of War," and "Don't Lie to Me" also prove to be metallic standouts. Although not quite in the same league as such early career monuments as OVERKILL or ACE OF SPADES, SNAKE BITE LOVE shows that Motorhead still has plenty of gas left in its tank.

| | We Are Motorhead CD (2000)
Snake Bite Love
$10.15 On hearing the first few measures of "See Me Burning" on Motorhead's latest WE ARE MOTORHEAD, it's easy to see how bands such as Metallica and Slayer can trace their roots back to the second wave of British metal. The image of vocalist/bassist Lemmy Kilmister craning his neck skyward to reach his microphone is one that every hard rock fan or casual observer knows well. Much like AC/DC, Motorhead has never tried to change its sound to adapt to musical trends; the album's title almost suggests a restatement ...
| | Motorhead Another Perfect Day CD (1983) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Snake Bite Love
$9.99 When it became known that "Fast" Eddie Clarke had split from Motorhead, heavy metal fans feared the end of this hard-living trio. But when it was announced that ex-Thin Lizzy guitarist Brian Robertson was joining drummer Phil Taylor and bassist/lead growler Lemmy, another typically styled Motorhead release could have understandably been anticipated.
However, while 1983's ANOTHER PERFECT DAY was still unmistakably a Motorhead album, Robertson brought in with him some musical elements that caused quite a bit of controversy amongst longtime fans--most notably the subtle use of synthesizers. Still, such furious tracks as "Shine" and "Dancing on Your Grave" showed that this new line-up held promise. But ANOTHER PERFECT DAY would be the only Motorhead release to feature Robertson, as he exited after the subsequent tour (as did longtime drummer Taylor), leaving Lemmy the lone original member.
To this day, Another Perfect Day remains one of the most unique (albeit misunderstood) ...

| | VH1 Presents The Corrs Live In Dublin CD (2002)
Snake Bite Love
$6.39 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, despite creditable efforts via an anthemized version of Ryan Adams' beautifully downtempo "When the Stars Go Blue," and a great, leering rendition of Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra's "Summer Wine."
Somewhat more mysteriously, ...
| | King Diamond Them CD (1988) Remastered
Snake Bite Love
$14.99 Following the incredible success of his second solo album, and first conceptual undertaking, Abigail, King Diamond set to work almost immediately on his next extravagant adventure in gothic storytelling with 1988's "Them." This time, he inserts himself among the story's characters, which also includes his mother, little sister, a haunted house (naturally), and, more unexpectedly, a batty old grandmother whose return from a long stay at the insane asylum (famously announced by "Welcome Home"'s borderline hilarious opening shrieks of "Grandmaaaa!!!") precipitates the supernatural acts of possession, murder, and madness that move this tale forward. Also worth noting are the new musical players who had joined the King Diamond band on this outing. After all, the replacement of guitarist Michael Denner and bassist Timi Hansen by Pete Blakk and Hal Patino, respectively, signaled the King's final break with his former band, Mercyful Fate. Tellingly, other than upping the overall camp factor just so, this development had no discernible effect on "Them"'s musical vision as compared to Abigail, thereby confirming said vision as stemming from King Diamond himself. Now back to the music: co-songwriter Andy LaRocque once again delivers distinctive, semi-thrash riffs, majestic harmonies, and searing, inventive solo passages to standout moments like "The Invisible Guests," "Tea," and "Twilight Symphony," but it's small nuances such as the acoustic break in "A Broken Spell" and the oppressive synthesized clavichords heard on "The Accusation Chair" that lend "Them"'s story its satisfyingly complex personality. What's more, overly theatrical numbers like "Mother's Getting Weaker" and "Bye, Bye Missy" take a little more license with their arrangements when incorporating ...

Released by Cuneiform, Camere Zimmer Rooms presents a set of live-in-the-studio recordings from 1977-1980. It chronicles the five-year interim between the group's studio albums. The quality of sound and performance is above what ...

| | Buckshot The Bdi Thug CD (1999)
Snake Bite Love
$13.65 Buckshot, the head rapper from Black Moon, issued this solo debut in late 1999. Similar to the lo-fi Wu-Tang aesthetic of Black Moon's War Zone, The BDI Thug has productions by Boogie Brown, Lord Jamar, DJ Akshun, and Just Blaze, among others. Buckshot's rapping is understated (even when his material isn't), and The BDI Thug holds up much better than listeners would expect from a solo album. ~ Keith Farley
