| | Richard Goldman Girls N' Cows CD Richard Goldman Discography of CDs
All of his humorous acumen would be for naught were it not for his winning knack with a melody. Even a song like "All Of Her Girlfriends Are Brain Dead," that leads off with "She looked like a girl with a lot on her mind/but that's where the parallel ended" would be no more than a clever construct without Goldman's seemingly endless supply of frothy pop hooks. GIRLS N' COWS is a nonstop pop tour de force.
Californian Richard Goldman is a one-man pop army. Writing, singing and playing virtually everything on GIRLS N' COWS himself, he displays a rapier-like wit easily matched by his cunning pop sensibilities. Goldman's outrageous sense of humor permeates every track, no matter what the setting of the song. From the twisted country of "The Good Years" to the twisted folk of "Zsa Zsa" to the twisted pop of "Elevator Music," Goldman turns the ears and mind of the listener inside out several times during the course of a song.
Personnel: Richard Goldman (vocals, guitar, bass, drum programming, accordion, pennywhistle); Deborah Holland (vocals); James F. Dean (harmonica, whistling).

Girls N' Cows
$14.69 Taylor Swift abandons any pretense that she's a teen on her second album, FEARLESS--which isn't to say that she suddenly tarts herself up, running away from her youth in a manner that's all too familiar to many teen stars. Swift's maturation is deliberate and careful, styled after the crossover country-pop of Shania Twain and Faith Hill before they turned into divas. Despite the success of her self-titled 2006 debut, there's nothing at all diva-like about Swift on FEARLESS: she's soft-spoken and considerate, a big sister instead of a big star. Nowhere is this truer than on "Fifteen," a kind warning for a teen to watch her heart sung from the perspective of a woman who's perhaps twice that age--a sly trick for the 18-year-old Swift. There may be a hint of youthfulness to her singing but that's the only hint of girlishness here; her writing--and she had a hand in penning all 13 tracks here, with six of them bearing her solitary credit--is sharply, subtly crafted and the music is softly assured, never pushing its hooks too hard. Like many country-pop albums of the 2000s, the pop heavily outweighs the country--there aren't fiddles here, there are violins--yet the production never feels garish, a crass attempt at a crossover success. It's ...

| | Vince Gill These Days CDs (2006) Digipak
Girls N' Cows
$19.39 Not since Prince released the three-hour, three-CD set EMANCIPATION in 1996 or the Magnetic Fields took a similar number of discs for the sprawling 69 LOVE SONGS in 1999 has an artist attempted something as expansive as Vince Gill's THESE DAYS. A four-disc box set of all new material, nearly all of it Gill originals, THESE DAYS is possibly the widest-ranging country album of the modern era. The four discs are thematically and stylistically arranged. Disc one, WORKIN' ON A BIG CHILL, is a 1960s-flavored rock-and-roll album that recalls Bob Dylan's late '60s work with the Band and features Bonnie Bramlett's vocals on several songs. Disc two, THE REASON WHY, is a modern pop record in the style of Shania Twain's international releases, with several duet partners including Sheryl Crow and Leann Rimes. Disc three, SOME THINGS NEVER GET OLD, is straight honky-tonk in the Ray Price and Lefty Frizzell tradition. Finally, disc four, LITTLE BROTHER, is a strictly acoustic bluegrass and folk album that cuts Gill's writing and singing to its most elemental. ...
| | Delbert McClinton One Of The Fortunate Few CD (1997)
Girls N' Cows
$7.19 All tracks have been digitally mastered using HDCD technology.
On ONE OF THE FORTUNATE FEW, Delbert McClinton trots out a set of ten new compositions, and, working with some of the top session musicians in Nashville, lays down a groove as big and wide-open as his native Texas. Even though his lyrics touch on typical blues topics like salvation ("Sending Me Angels") and an unfaithful or departed lover (everything else), he sings with such hurt and conviction that they don't sound like cliches. Helping him to stay young is a veritable who's who of the younger generation of Country stars (Vince Gill, Patty Loveless and Bekka Bramlett) plus a few relative old-timers (Lyle Lovett, John Prine and a special appearance by B.B. King). Delbert McClinton made his first record in 1959, and a lot has changed since then, both ...

Girls N' Cows
$10.89 "Colors" was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.
Though the tragic events of September 11, 2001 inspired many artists to create works celebrating the American way of life, few seemed as appropriate as COLORS by the Oak Ridge Boys. One of the longest-running groups in country music, the band started as a small-town Tennessee gospel combo in the early 1940's. In true Horatio Alger fashion, they eventually became one of the biggest-selling vocal groups in history. Although their personnel has changed many times, the Boys' signature four-part harmony singing has remained as warm, rich and familiar as ever. Here, the group assembles a top-notch collection of overtly patriotic songs that pay tribute both to American institutions and the country's indomitable spirit in times of crisis. Highlights include "G.I. Joe And Lillie," a real-life WWII love story written about tenor Joe Bonsall's parents, and the group's gorgeous a cappella reading of "The ...

$12.69 I was born on December 18, 1970, in Miami Florida, to Lenora and Gus Dorsey. I started performing at the age of 2 in my living room with a mister microphone and the furniture as my audience. I later played the drums in the church and sang in the church choir. My first big performance was at the Savannah Civic Center in 1986, but I knew something was missing. I later toured in Germany (1992) and Korea (1999) and had a very successful run, but I knew something was missing. As you can see I have been making music since I was knee high to a duck; However, I have recently decided to only make music that is inspirational to the young and old soul and promote THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST.I spent many years writing and performing music that was inappropriate. During this time of rebellion, I battled with good and evil over the type of music I wanted to play. One day my soul hit rock bottom and the devil lost the battle. As African Americans, I personally feel that we, as a people, have abandoned our culture and spiritual connection with God for the bling bling. My music is not meant to preach but to teach that Jesus can help and that he is the answer for the world today. ...
