| | Richard Goldman Girls N' Cows CD Richard Goldman Discography of CDs
Californian Richard Goldman is a one-man pop army. Writing, singing and playing virtually everything on GIRLS N' COWS himself, he displays a rapier-like wit easily matched by his cunning pop sensibilities. Goldman's outrageous sense of humor permeates every track, no matter what the setting of the song. From the twisted country of "The Good Years" to the twisted folk of "Zsa Zsa" to the twisted pop of "Elevator Music," Goldman turns the ears and mind of the listener inside out several times during the course of a song.
All of his humorous acumen would be for naught were it not for his winning knack with a melody. Even a song like "All Of Her Girlfriends Are Brain Dead," that leads off with "She looked like a girl with a lot on her mind/but that's where the parallel ended" would be no more than a clever construct without Goldman's seemingly endless supply of frothy pop hooks. GIRLS N' COWS is a nonstop pop tour de force.

Girls N' Cows
$13.65 Taylor Swift abandons any pretense that she's a teen on her second album, FEARLESS--which isn't to say that she suddenly tarts herself up, running away from her youth in a manner that's all too familiar to many teen stars. Swift's maturation is deliberate and careful, styled after the crossover country-pop of Shania Twain and Faith Hill before they turned into divas. Despite the success of her self-titled 2006 debut, there's nothing at all diva-like about Swift on FEARLESS: she's soft-spoken and considerate, ...

| | Hard To Find 45'S On CD: Pop & Country Classics CD (2002)
Girls N' Cows
$13.69 The Hard to Find 45s on CD series is a very subjective -- and some would say guaranteed to start an argument or fight at your next party with loudmouth music freaks -- batch of compilation recordings that focuses on various aspects of genre-specific music and time periods. This set centers itself on country tunes that became crossover successes from the 1950s through the urban(e) cowboy era in 1982 and pop music that charted by country artists. Some tracks would have been impossible to exclude, such as Lefty Frizzell's number one country chart smash "Saginaw, Michigan," even if it scored a lowly number 85 on the pop chart. Same goes for Leroy Van Dyke's reading of Isaac Hayes' "Walk on By," which scored a number five in pop and didn't chart in the country Top 40, and Ferlin Husky's "Gone," which went to the top of the country list and scored a number four in pop. They are included as evidence of "marginal" crossovers and provided the template by which other recordings would be measured, recorded, and released -- at least in the singles and jukebox markets. But there are some forgotten gems here as well, including the Marvin ...
| | John Denver Definitive All-Time Greatest Hits CDs (2004) Bonus CD
Girls N' Cows
$9.69 The title of this collection by the Jesus of 1970s soft pop makes no bones about its intentions. Fortunately, it delivers what it promises in spades. DEFINITIVE ALL-TIME GREATEST HITS chronicles the hit-packed career of John Denver without missing a trick. From his earliest, most folk-oriented material ("Leaving on a Jet Plane," a hit for Peter, Paul & Mary) to his more country-flavored compositions ("Take Me Home, Country Roads," the stomp-along "Thank God I'm a Country Boy"), we're given a full picture of Denver's abilities. Early-'80s duets with Placido Domingo ("Perhaps Love") and Emmylou Harris ("Wild Montana Skies") underscore both the far-reaching ripples Denver made in the music world and the full range of his own gifts. Such gentle, melodic ballads as "Annie's Song" and "Sunshine on My Shoulders" are the distilled essence of what made '70s AM radio tick, and will elicit instant nostalgia for the era when Denver's brand of quiet, graceful songcraft reigned ...
| | Alan Jackson Good Time CD (2008)
Girls N' Cows
$10.89 On his first traditional country album since 2004's WHAT I DO, Alan Jackson steps outside the comfortable routine he's created for himself in favor of creating a more personal and introspective work. The first album on which Jackson has written all of the songs all by himself, GOOD TIME is Jackson's most autobiographical album by some distance. "Small Town Southern Man" is a touching farewell to his late father, while "I Wish I Could Back Up" and "Never Loved Before" (a duet with country superstar Martina McBride) are intimate love ...
| | George Strait Pure Country CD (1992) Original Soundtrack; SDTK
Girls N' Cows
$10.39 George Strait is one of the leading proponents of a traditional country music that is styled with Texas swing, delivering his music with a rich, no frills voice and a straight-ahead delivery.
PURE COUNTRY is the soundtrack to Strait's film debut, offering a variety of swinging shuffles, traditional honky tonk, weepy ballads and country rockers. He wears his influences proudly, and having been doing it so well for so long, he has, in turn, become a major influence on the next generation of new traditionalists. One can clearly hear Merle Haggard, Bob Wills and George Jones in his music; but give a listen to new guys like Clay Walker, and you'll hear a distinctive George Strait influence.
Riding a flat-bed of fiddle, pedal steel and genuinely heartfelt vocals, Strait takes the listener on a tour of the country singer's world. On the uptempo "Heartland," George explains that to "sing a song about the heartland" is to "sing a song about ...

$12.69 I was born on December 18, 1970, in Miami Florida, to Lenora and Gus Dorsey. I started performing at the age of 2 in my living room with a mister microphone and the furniture as my audience. I later played the drums in the church and sang in the church choir. My first big performance was at the Savannah Civic Center in 1986, but I knew something was missing. I later toured in Germany (1992) and Korea (1999) and had a very successful run, but I ...
