| | Hate Eternal Conquering The Throne CD Hate Eternal Discography of CDs
(3 Customer Reviews)
1999 debut album by death metal group featuring guitarist Erik Rutan, formerly of Ripping Corpse and Morbid Angel fame. 11 tracks.
Although Hate Eternal's Wicked World debut, Conquering the Throne, came out in 1999, it sounds like it could have been recorded ten years earlier. That's because the material is by-the-book grindcore/death metal and has all of that genre's late-'80s trademarks -- relentlessly fast tempos, a lack of melody, a fascination with evil and the occult, and a twisted, choking, larynx-destroying vocal style that doesn't allow the listener to make out many of the lyrics. This CD breaks no new ground for grindcore, and blistering, mosh pit-friendly tunes like "The Creed of Chaotic Divinity," "Sacrilege of Hate" and "Nailed to Obscurity" are interchangeable. But despite its obvious limitations, Conquering the Throne is enjoyable and exhilarating in its own way. The album is quite predictable and not very distinctive, yet it's easy to get into if you have a taste for grindcore and death metal and are in the mood for naked, unmitigated aggression. ~ Alex Henderson
Hate Eternal: Erik Rutan (vocals, guitar); Doug Cerrito (guitar); Jared Anderson (bass); Tim Young (drums).
CMJ (2/28/00, p.29) - "...a document of doom: nothing but intense, headbanging death metal full of lyrics that question organized religion, and anchored by cyclone drumming so heavy-handed, it could rip a house off its moorings." With Rutan,Cerrito,Anderson(RIP),and the almighty Tim Young, it is an assault of brutality, technicality, and speed thats sets standards for music. You better F*cking buy it. Conquering the throne indeed! Can you say technical death metal?
This album will blow you away. It requires a couple of listenings, but trust me, you´re not wasting your time. Complex, brutal, skullcrushing metal played by true masters. Must... buy... now... Submitted by Ingrid (Sweden) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Conquering The Throne album
$10.65 Back from the bowels of metal limbo comes the mighty Hypocrisy with their self-titled masterpiece. The Final Chapter was supposed to bid the metal community adieu, but it seems that the tremendous impact of that album has brought Peter Tagtgren and company out for another go. Crafting and delivering a slew of brand new, megalithic guitar ...

Conquering The Throne music CDs
$9.85 This five-song EP was Suffocation's first release after their split with Roadrunner Records, and until they surprisingly announced that they were re-forming in early 2003, it also looked to be their last release, period. Originally released on the small Vulture label and later reissued by Relapse in 2002, this disc is prime Suffocation, or in other words, brutal New York-style death metal at its best. For all their imitators over the years, this quintet remains unmatched when it comes to this type of battering, hardcore-laced death metal. These songs are highly complex without sounding forced or arbitrary -- check out the deceptively simple odd-time-signature maneuvers at the beginning ...
| | Hate Eternal King Of All Kings CD (2002)
Conquering The Throne songs
$14.05 King of All Kings follows closely in the footsteps of its predecessor, the unremittingly sinister 1999 opus Conquering the Throne. As the title suggests, this recording was a continuation of the thematic elements which appeared throughout Hate Eternal's debut, pummeling through ten brutal cuts of extreme grind/metal while saluting all that which is evil. It came as a great surprise that founding member Erik Rutan announced his departure from death metal luminaries Morbid Angel in order to focus his complete attention on Hate Eternal, yet understandable considering King of All Kings not only boasts his skilled guitar work and guttural vocals, but also his very own production. Rutan enlisted Derek Roddy, known for his work as part of Nile and Fallen, as well as bassist Jared Anderson, who also accompanies ...
| | Kreator Coma Of Souls CD (1990)
Conquering The Throne album
$10.45 Although they remained largely without peer when it came to pure Germanic thrash metal, by the time of 1990's Coma of Souls, Kreator's very successful formula had begun to grow a little tired. The fact that they were coming off perhaps their biggest album yet in 1989's Extreme Aggression didn't help matters, and despite its overwhelmingly solid songwriting, Coma of Souls still sounded somewhat repetitive to all but the most unquestioning of fans. Still, better too much of a good thing than nothing at all, and with their head-spinning musicianship and well-chosen stabs at melody, complex moshers like ...

| | This Is 80'S Hair Metal CDs (2003)
Conquering The Throne album
$15.75 An odd three-disc set from Deadline, This Is '80s Hair Metal isn't nearly as definitive as its title implies. Subtitled "Studio Fuelled," the first disc in the set features what must be re-recordings -- Quiet Riot's "Cum on Feel the Noize," Warrant's "Cherry Pie," the Bulletboys' "Smooth Up," and Pretty Boy Floyd's "Leather Boyz With Electric Toyz" are featured; honestly, some die-hard fans might prefer these mostly beefy and energetic newer versions over the originals, since the production values on some of the originals haven't aged well. The second disc, subtitled "Live and Dangerous," is all live, including performances from the likes of Cinderella, Lita Ford, Dangerous Toys, L.A. Guns, Great ...
