(4 Customer Reviews)
Following the mega-success of the previous year's My Name Is Barbra TV special and two tie-in records, CBS aired Color Me Barbra in March 1966. The album of the same name hit number three two months later and is a gem of a record, a genuinely fun album. Never has Barbra injected so much of her knack for comedy into her songs. Covers, standards, and show tunes are all Streisand-sized and the results are grand numbers with sweeping arrangements and unmistakable vocals.
"One Kiss" is a tender ballad, while Chopin's "The Minute Waltz" is transformed into an upbeat, goofy track. Barbra declares her independence in the similarly brisk "Gotta Move," which includes an excellent horn section. In "Non C'est Rien" she tries her hand at French and "C'est Si Bon" (It's So Good) is a slow, jazzy Gallic spoof. A wonderful medley includes a slow rendition of "What's New Pussycat" and the record concludes with an elegant, yet powerful version of "Starting Here, Starting Now."
This is Barbra Streisand's second TV Special. Barbra Streisand Color Me Barbra Songs Color Me Barbra Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) Perfectly remastered. I have a vinyl recording of this CD but because of its age they don't sound as clean as when I purchase this back in the 60's. The CD is a perfect replacement. Color Her Great Vicki Carr and Color me Barbara by babs yet I perfer Vicki Carr since she is an angel and she doesnt insults her fans in the audience. That turned me off with Babs anything for promotion. Give me more Vicki carr any day. Submitted by Chance (Baton Rouge, LA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Before She Was Political! This album comes from, IMHO, the best period of Barbra's career, when she was a pure entertainer, I think it's one of her best! Submitted by blbaskind (Euclid, OH, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 0 of 1 found this helpful.

Color Me Barbra
$38.09 DREAMS is a 4-CD box set compiling in chronological order tracks by the Allman Brothers Band, as well as tracks by bands featuring one or more member of the Allman Brothers Band and solo performances by Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts.
Recorded between 1966 & 1988. Includes a 32-page illustrated booklet and liner notes by John Swenson.
Like nearly all box sets, DREAMS has plenty to recommend it-and a few nagging drawbacks. The set's chief shortcoming is its two conflicting goals: providing an overview of the Allmans' history, thus attracting buyers seeking the ultimate hits package, and including enough unreleased tracks and rarities to appeal to the band's most devoted fans. As a result, DREAMS is neither the definitive Allman Brothers collection nor the gift to hardcore fans that, say, THE BOOTLEG SERIES is to Dylan-philes.
DREAMS' strengths are considerable. First and foremost, the box contains nearly five wall-to-wall hours of great music. By including everything from early demos to Gregg Allman and Dickie Betts' solo material, DREAMS does a great job of tracing the group's musical evolution from hippie blues band to kings of Southern rock. And, while ...

| | Barbra Streisand Guilty CD (1980)
Color Me Barbra
$7.05 Released in September 1980, GUILTY was Barbra Streisand's best-selling album to date, moving in excess of 20 million units. It is Streisand's THRILLER and arguably her best recorded work. This is largely due to producer Barry Gibb, who developed the songs especially for Barbra, and whose vocal presence is felt throughout the record. "Guilty" (a duet with Gibb) is a mid-tempo smash that blends the superstars' vocals to create pop perfection. "Woman In Love" topped the charts for three weeks and features the trademark "chipmunk-like" Gibb on background vocals.
"Run Wild" is an uptempo number showing that there's no filler here. "Promises" is a mid-tempo track that sounds custom-made for radio airplay. "The Love Inside" features excellent keyboard arrangements while "What Kind Of Fool" (another duet with Gibb) is a ballad that proves Barbra and Barry were meant to sing together. Her vocals on the fast-paced, optimistic "Never Give Up" reveal such a calm demeanor that you can almost picture the relative ease with which this record was produced. This album is a perfect 10, two thumbs up, and proof ...
