| | Loggins & Messina Full Sail CD Loggins & Messina Discography of CDs
(3 Customer Reviews)
Also available in a 3-pack with SITTIN' IN and LOGGINS AND MESSINA.
This audiophile recording of Loggins And Messina's third record enables listeners to appreciate some of the finer details of the expert playing and ornate production that characterize this exemplary platter of light '70s pop-rock. It also includes a full set of lyrics, including every last "Boh doh doh doh doh" of the Jimmy Buffet-style Hawaiian fantasy "Lahaina" that opens the record.
As Kenny Loggins acknowledges in his nostalgic album notes, FULL SAIL became the biggest seller in the Loggins And Messina catalog. True to its name, the record captures the group at its height, before changing tastes and the pressures of the music industry brought about its demise just a few years later. It includes the radio hit "My Music," which echoed the '50s rock flavor of "Your Mama Don't Dance," along with romantic ballads by Loggins, and two of Messina's medley-style pieces that combine for almost 20 minutes of music. Trivia note: on FULL SAIL, the artist formerly known as Ken Loggins uses the transitional "K. Loggins." The next year would see the birth of Kenny.
Recorded at Wally Heiders, Studio 4, Hollywood, California. Includes liner notes by Kenny Loggins.

Full Sail album
$16.25 Initially planned solely as a standard double-disc reissue in the wake of the blockbuster success of The Fame, Lady Gaga decided to release the new material as a separate EP called The Fame Monster in addition to the standard two-CD set, where it's tacked onto a now standardized version of her debut. It's a nice move for fans, plus it helps emphasize the new material, which does act as a bridge from the debut to a forthcoming full-length. Everything on The Fame Monster bears a galvanized Eurotrash finish, as evident on the heavy steel synths of "Bad Romance" and the updated ABBA revision "Alejandro," as it is on the rock & roll ballad "Speechless" -- its big guitars lifted from Noel Gallagher -- and the wonderful, perverse march "Teeth." Even the stuttering splices on "Telephone," a duet with Beyoncé, leans to the other side of the Atlantic, which just emphasizes ...

| | Mariah Carey Merry Christmas CD (1994)
Full Sail music CDs
$8.75 At this stage of her career Mariah Carey does not need to prove herself, but her voice is so powerful that with each new recording she, once again, reminds you: "Listen to what I can do." Vocal gymnastics and Christmas songs are not often thought of as a compatible combination, but on MERRY CHRISTMAS Mariah jumps, climbs, crawls, twirls and dashes her way through both traditional fare and original Christmas songs.
She shifts through styles, offering fans from all musical camps a gift of their own. Her "Silent Night" shows off a studied vocalization where liquid phrasing is key. "Miss You Most (At Christmas Time)" shows off a dynamic voice that is hard to match. She has fun with the Phil ...

That's it -- just four singers making vocal music in the a cappella tradition that began with Gregorian chants and reached its apogee on the street corners of the boroughs of New York. The Mighty Echoes have been going strong in Los Angeles since the 1980's but pay homage to the music's origins and promulgation in the subtitle "From Erasmus Hall to Echo Park." Their reputation for vocal perfection and mirthful performances have made them a favorite among doo-wop aficionados and glitterati, alike, having performed for the likes of President Bill ...
