Canadian rock singer/songwriter Aldo Nova doesn't get enough credit (some cynics would say blame) for helping invent the 1980s pop-metal genre, which focused equally on hard rocking anthems and soaring power ballads. Aldo Nova appeared in 1982 complete with irresistible melodies and choruses, explosive guitar licks, and huge-sounding drums. It was a full year or more before Def Leppard, Night Ranger, Bon Jovi, and others would latch on to this formula and rocket to stardom. Nova wrote, produced, arranged, and performed his double-platinum debut album by himself, except for drums and some bass guitar and piano parts. Nova is quite proficient on guitar, but his secret weapon is his keyboard and synthesizer prowess. The hit single (and early MTV favorite) "Fantasy" cannot be denied; it's loaded with guitar and keyboard hooks as well as a catchy chorus. "Foolin' Yourself" has a more straightforward pop feel and it was a minor hit. "Ball and Chain" is the best-known power ballad on Aldo Nova, but the hypnotic "You're My Love" is better. "Hot Love" is propelled by several guitar solo bursts. "Heart to Heart" and "See the Light" are fast, energetic songs with crisp guitar riffs and swirling synthesizer lines. This album shows off one the best rock bands of all time. It's full of heavy guitar riffs and powerful lyrics. Although, it's not as good as it's follow-up album "Subject"; it is still the coolest in my book

 Timeless
This is actulaly quite a timeless CD. The lyrics have something to say and the music, as innocent as it was, sounded great. Fantacy sounds great turned up with the wind blowing on a summer day with your with your car windows down from the memorable beginning to the end, and just as good in your living room. I would love to see Aldo on a "where are they now?" biography special.

Put on the Headphones, it comes at ya from all sides
This album is excellent from cover to cover, front to back, end to end. The next album, "Subject" is even better. Get them all. He is a well kept secret that should be explored! I will NEVER be without my Aldo Nova albums. I wish he would do more. His albums are great headphone experiences. "Specially those first two that he did all himself!!!!!

This review is for a different format. A lost legendary album
For those of us who know better than to listen to the ravings of Robert in Philadelphia or Blake from Brandon Ms., this album still kicks butt so many years later!!
If you remember and appreciate, buy it. If not, Buy and enjoy a whole new experience of late seventies/early eighties rock!!
