| | Rammstein Liebe Ist Fur Alle Da CDs (2009) Bonus Tracks; Deluxe Edition; Digipak
Pattern Disruptive
$17.58 Anyone familiar with the industrial-metal band's dark sense of irony should take one look at the title of Rammstein's 2009 album LIEBE IST FUR ALLE DA ("Love Is There For Everyone") and conclude that this one is a mean monster. Combining the tightness and punch of their 1998 album SEHNSUCHT with the musicianship and elaborate textures of their later work, LIEBE IST is a grand achievement, skillfully dividing its time between razor sharp metal rockers like "B********" or the opening theme song "Rammlied" and nostalgic, cabaret pieces that conjure ...

| | Rod Stewart Soulbook CD (2009)
Pattern Disruptive
$11.18 Continuing his stroll through pop's backpages, Rod Stewart moves on from "The Great Rock Classics of Our Time" and dives into the SOULBOOK, shorthand for all the great Motown and soul songs that still are in heavy rotation on oldies radio well into the new millennium. Rod doesn't spend much time with the soul and blues singers so influential on him, choosing instead to run through a bunch of Motown hits - a full six of the 13 songs here are from the Motor City - adding a couple of smooth ...
| | Gary Urwin Jazz Orchestra Perspectives CD (2000)
Pattern Disruptive
$13.75 The Gary Urwin Jazz Orchestra has been referred to as "A veritable who's who among the Los Angeles area's most accomplished studio and big-band artists." The leader is an accomplished arranger/composer, and the stellar, first-call musicians who comprise the orchestra enthusiastically contribute their top-flight musicianship and camaraderie to this musically adventurous, swinging all-star ensemble.Personnel: The band's personnel includes multiple Grammy-nominated jazz artists, enjoying the talents of such luminaries of the Los Angeles jazz scene as Wayne Bergeron, Pete Christlieb, Rickey Woodard, Rick Baptist, Kim Richmond, Charlie Loper, Alex Iles, Christian Jacob, Trey Henry and others.Recordings: The band has released three critically-praised CDs: “Kindred Spirits”, “Living in the Moment” and “Perspectives.” The band's albums can be heard on some 135 radio stations nationwide, as well as abroad. Their second recording, “Living in the Moment”, hit Number 31 on JazzWeek's Jazz Chart and remained on the charts for six weeks. The band’s third album, “Kindred Spirits” (released April, 2006), combines the band’s artistry with the talents of two well-known stars of the jazz world, trombonist Bill Watrous and tenor sax player Pete Christlieb. Though Watrous and Christlieb each have a long history of successful recordings, this is their first appearance as a featured front line, "together again for the first time". Arranger/leader Gary Urwin wrote the fresh, never previously-heard arrangements of tunes hand-picked by Watrous and Christlieb specifically for this project. Trumpet legend Bobby Shew also plays a significant role in covering the trumpet/flugelhorn solos and in the trumpet section on the band’s “Kindred Spirits” album. Live Appearances: The band has played to enthusiastic receptions and well-received press reviews at such Los Angeles jazz venues as the Jazz Bakery, the Los Angeles Jazz Institute Jazz Festival, Charlie O's, and Catalina Bar & Grill. Reviews:Reviews of the band’s third ...

| | Kan'Nal Myth Magic CD (2008)
Pattern Disruptive
$16.19 Primal rhythm, swirling dancers, ancient instruments and futuristic technologies blend with mythic archetypes and alternative rock to create a musical, visual, sensual experience. Kan’Nal’s “Shamanic Rock,” conveys the power of these spectacles. For years, songwriter/vocalist Tzol was drawn to explore Mexico and Central America. On one particular journey in early 2001, Tzol met guitarist Tierro in the village of San Marcos on the magical lake Atitlan. Writing songs and performing together in Guatemala inspired them to capture their vision on an album. After recording the first Kan’Nal CD in Tierro’s hometown Toronto, the two returned to lake Atitlan the following year. At their very first show, they were joined by songwriter/bassist Rodolfo Escobar and performance artist Teresita Hinojosa. With this addition Kan’Nal gained a new visual and mystical dimension. Living together near the lake, all four drew inspiration from the beauties and hardships that surrounded them. One by one the group encountered the others destined to join their tribe. Aaron Jerad, another traveler on “La Ruta Maya,” came into the picture while they were visiting the Yucatan peninsula. His foundational percussion and solid didgeridoo playing added further elements of trance and rhythm Leaving Mexico they added Gilly Gonzalez, whose ferocious drumming had made him a figure of legend in Texas. Completing the circle, artist and dancer Akayate joined the band in Colorado. Her gift ...
