Along with 1986's ORGASMATRON, 1916, Motorhead's first release of the '90s, is the finest from the band's twin guitar line-up (which included Wurzel and Phil Campbell). Some longtime Motorhead fans wrote the band off after original guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke left in the early '80s, but, as the two aforementioned albums prove, Motorhead still had plenty of tricks left up their sleeve.
1916 is as close as Motorhead ever got to recording a concept album--some songs deal with the horrors of World War One, such as "No Voices in the Sky" and the title track. But there are several typical, non-message-laden Motorhead ragers, such as "I'm So Bad (Baby I Don't Care)," and a tribute to a certain legendary New York City punk group, "Ramones."Rolling Stone (3/21/91) - 3.5 Stars - Good Plus - "..manages to mingle ruthlessness and listenability like never beofre...creating a new threshold of sharpness for the genre. Fortunately, the crisper approach only makes the cruelty of the group's playing more pronounced." Q (3/91) - 4 Stars - Excellent - "..at 45 the godfather of thrash metal still won't give the old folks a break...Motorhead's ninth studio album is a mad morass of noise, the turbocharged twin guitars of Wurzel and Campbell adding a modern machine sheen to the more primeval approach of Lemmy's shot-blasted vocals." Musician (4/91) - "..Exaggerating and flaunting death imagery, as metal acts are wont to do, is like giving the grim reaper the finger. In parodying death you defy it, an attitude many find hopelessly adolescent. But by employing the same with that fueled classics like "Killed by Death" to make a serious statement about the senselessness of war, Motorhead shows a surprising emotional range. Maturity even." 1916 album
$16.09 When SONIC BOOM was released, it had been over a decade since the last Kiss studio album, so expectations were understandably high. In addition, the intervening period had seen the band fire two of its founding members for the second time, only to replace them with sidemen wearing Ace Frehley and Peter Criss's iconic makeup. Luckily, the new additions, unlike some of Kiss's "un-masked years" members, have a good feel for classic Kiss. That fact, matched with Paul Stanley's assumption of production duties, makes SONIC BOOM one of the most consistent and thoroughly Kiss-sounding albums since the group's `70s heyday. That said, the New York City unit manages to branch out a bit; alongside very ROCK & ROLL OVER/LOVE GUN-esque tracks such as the Gene Simmons-sung ...
| | Rammstein Liebe Ist Fur Alle Da CDs (2009) Bonus Tracks; Deluxe Edition; Digipak
1916 CD music
$17.59 Anyone familiar with the industrial-metal band's dark sense of irony should take one look at the title of Rammstein's 2009 album LIEBE IST FUR ALLE DA ("Love Is There For Everyone") and conclude that this one is a mean monster. Combining the tightness and punch of their 1998 album SEHNSUCHT with the musicianship and elaborate textures of their later work, LIEBE IST is a grand achievement, skillfully dividing its time between razor sharp metal rockers like "B********" or the opening theme song "Rammlied" and nostalgic, cabaret pieces that conjure the spirits of Weil and Brecht at a goth club. Best of the latter is the naked and haunting closer "Roter Sand" but little touches of a sinister yesteryear ...

$6.49 After spending a few years honing their chops playing bars in England, the members of Def Leppard released their first full-length album, ON THROUGH THE NIGHT, in 1980. Though the young band (all the members were either in their early 20s or still teenagers) ...
| | Best Of George Benson CD (1995)
1916 songs
$8.65 If a George Benson fan owned THE BEST OF GEORGE BENSON as well as THE GEORGE BENSON COLLECTION, he almost wouldn't have to own another George Benson CD. While there is some duplication of titles between the two Warner Brothers releases, this later release does as excellent a job of highlighting Benson's later career, as COLLECTION does for his earlier career.
"I Just Wanna Hang Around You," "Love X Love," "20/20," "Kisses in the Moonlight," and "Lady Love Me (One More Time)" are among the newer song highlights on this 1995 CD.

1916 album
$16.49 Blue Riddim Band has a long and storied history in the music world. They toured for many years and their musical journey was highlighted with an opening slot for Bob Marley and The Wailers as well as several trips to Jamaica to perform in Reggae Sunsplash. Their Grammy nominated album "Alive in Jamaica" was recorded there Aug 6, 1982. The founding members are still pushing airwaves in Kansas City and have been in constant contact and perform when the opportunity arises. Like riding a bike they stepped into the studio in 2008 to track this horn heavy Ska blast. The result is nothing short of what you'd expect from the Reggae masters! Danceable and ever so hypnotic, Ska Inferno will re-ignite your passion for Ska music of Jamaica, the birthplace of Ska!From the Pitch Magazine in KC......Blue Riddim BandSka Inferno(Markosa Records)By Richard GintowtPublished on June 16, 2009 at ...
