| | Allman Brothers Band An Evening With The Allman Brothers-1st Set CD Allman Brothers Band Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
Recorded live at the Macon City Auditorium, Macon, Georgia on December 28-30, 1991; The Orpheum Theatre, Boston, Massachusetts on March 3-4, 1992; The Beacon Theatre, New York on March 10-11, 1992.
This early '90s concert album isn't as epochal as 1971's LIVE AT THE FILLMORE EAST (what could be?), but it's an excellent set in its own right. At the very least, it demonstrates why the reconstituted Allman Brothers became such an in-demand live attraction in the '90s, picking up much of the living-for-the-jam crowd that formerly gravitated to the Grateful Dead in the process.
High points here include an acoustic interlude in the middle of the show, with particularly lovely unplugged versions of Blind Willie McTell's "Midnight Blues" and Greg Allman's "Melissa." The electric material also percolates most satisfyingly, in particular "Southbound," which gives everybody in the band, including harmonica player Thom Doucette, an opportunity to strut their best stuff.
Also available as a 3-pack with 2ND SET and SEVEN TURNS.

An Evening With The Allman Brothers-1st Set
$11.94 It's no secret that Sting is a serious man, so it's only logical that his holiday album -- his first new music since the Police reunion, not that it really matters -- is a serious endeavor, thank you. No niceties for him, no comforts of carols; he favors formal over familiar, writing madrigals, ...

By way of distinguishing GREATEST HITS from the other Cure collections on the market, let's first note that most of the doom and gloom for which the band is often derided is largely absent here due to the disinclusion of most of their early material. The bulk of this disc is devoted to mid-period cure classics such as the simultaneously innocent and randy "Let's Go to Bed," the breathless, horn-driven "Close to Me," and the bouncy, jazz-tinged "The Lovecats." ...

An Evening With The Allman Brothers-1st Set
$9.99 Based on the runaway success of his first single, "Run It!" it was clear that 16-year-old Chris Brown was onto something. The song, which rides a pulsing hip-hop beat with Brown's smoothly styled R&B vocals coming in over the top, shot straight to the top of the charts, virtually guaranteeing an ecstatic reception for his full-length self-titled ...
