One of the reasons why Aerosmith, after a number of creatively lean years, are still given legendary credence and an eager ear with each new release, Rocks encapsulated the very essence of rock 'n' roll. They may have been the target of detractors who still pinned them as nothing more than a poor man's Rolling Stones, but Rocks pioneered a strength and swagger and real depth that remains very nearly unsurpassed. From the slowly escalating 'Back In The Saddle' to the dying strains of 'Home Tonight', this album held the full spirit and soul of Aerosmith in both hands.

Top 10 Hard Rock albums of ALL TIME This is not only Aerosmith's zenith in terms of song writing and delivery, but it stands as one of the best albums ever! Back In The Saddle is not your routine hard rock thunder and has never been duplicated. Last Child is hard rock funk blues and the rest of the album is killer riff after killer riff. Listen to Tyler and Perry's dual vocals on Combination -- a very underrated song. Bottom line is that every rock star on the planet will tell you what this album means to them. It is a must have for any rock fan. Submitted by Jarod (Portland OR) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo 5 of 5 found this helpful.

SLEAZY, GREASY BOOGIE ROCK This is the best Aerosmith album--Hard driving hooks and druggy grooves that drive deep into your head-- then those fantastically loose but pounding lead guitar runs and riffs come---Wow! I had this back in '75 and it still astounds in 2002--Every song rocks--It was so down and dirty that only "Last Child" made it to the radio with any consistency--

Aerosmith's Masterpiece This is where it all came together for Aerosmith. If your a true fan of hard rock, this should be in everybody's top ten. There are two other Aerosmith albums that are comparable (Toys In The Attic, Get Your Wings, OK and maybe their debut album). But nothing captured the mood of Rock angst in the middle of the disco era like "Rocks".
