| | Aerosmith Classics Live II CD Aerosmith Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
Recorded live at The Orpheum Theater, Boston, Massachusetts on December 31, 1984; Worcester Centrum, Worcester, Massachusetts on March 3, 1986; Ontario Motor Speedway, Ontario, California on March 18, 1978.
All tracks have been digitally remastered using Sony's 20-Bit Digital Super Bit Mapping process.
Unlike Aerosmith's first CLASSICS compilation, the group had direct creative involvement in putting this collection together. Of the eight songs that make up LIVE II, six were taken from a New Year's Eve show the band played before a hometown Boston crowd in 1984 at the Orpheum. The triumphant "Back in the Saddle" is included along with the funky "Walk This Way" (complete with a crowd sing-along intro for birthday boy Tom Hamilton), the sassy "Same Old Song and Dance," and the raucous "Toys in the Attic." A version of the always potent "Draw the Line," taken from 1978's CALIFORNIA JAM and "Let The Music Do The Talking" (originally recorded by the Joe Perry Project), recorded at a 1986 Worchester, Massachusetts gig round out this set.

Q (2/93, p.86) - 3 Stars - Good - "...Steven Tyler's strangely poignant whelping and his lonesome falsetto are used to odd but marvellous effect...the seeds of the band's recent renaissance are clearly evident here..." On ELECTRIC LADYLAND Jimi Hendrix stretched and experimented in the studio, going beyond the power-trio format on what would be his last studio album with the Experience. ELECTRIC LADYLAND was revolutionary in its scope and execution. Using New York City's Record Plant as a gateway to free expression, Hendrix traversed an abstract landscape containing ...

| | Heath Brothers Jazz Family CD (1998)
Classics Live II music CDs
$9.95 With Percy Heath technically in retirement on Long Island, Jimmy Heath freshly retired from Queens College, and Tootie Heath ready for action, the Heath Brothers had the time to quickly follow their first reunion album with another first-rate collection of bop-based small-combo jazz. On "East of the Sun (And West of the Moon)" and "Easy Living," a brass quartet is added, with Jimmy's elegant writing casting a thoughtful veil of subdued color over the combo. Guitarist Tony Purrone, a mainstay of the first Heath band, returns in fine form; Jeb Patton, a student of Jimmy's at Queens College, is the capable pianist; and three trumpet soloists (veteran Joe Wilder, Earl Gardner, and Tom Williams) take turns in that chair, although the liners offer incomplete information about who appears on which track. Percy again comes to the foreground repeatedly (in contrast with his supporting role in the MJQ); "Move to the Groove" is another of Percy's sly blues grooves, and he ...
| | Gomez Liquid Skin CD
Classics Live II songs
$9.79 Gomez successfully combines the old with the new. On LIQUID SKIN the band mixes touches of '60s psychedelia and hippie folk-rock with a gritty, angular, post-grunge alt-rock sensibility. Acoustic instruments abound, buoyed by rootsy-sounding organ and the occasional electric guitar rave-up. ...

$15.19 Music has always been a gift for me. It has been with me for as long as I can remember and has grown and evolved as I have through the years. It allows me to communicate what I can't readily say. I can share emotions and connect with others with whom I might not be able to otherwise.I've played acoustic guitar and sung since I was a child. My vocal training came through Sunday choir and I pretty much self taught myself the guitar. Growing up in Hawaii allowed me to experience so many kinds of music. ...
