One of the first requirements of an action movie is a soundtrack with a quick tempo, a raw edge, and a concept which relates it to the film. On SPAWN: THE ALBUM, hard rock favorites such as Metallica, Korn, and Slayer team up with rising electronica ... Full Descriptionmusicians like DJ Spooky, The Dust Brothers, and Atari Teenage Riot, making for an unlikely, but powerful new cross-breed of today's heaviest sounds. Some tracks feature electronic beats intertwined with heavy metal guitar riffs, while others alternate between techno segments and explosive power-chord bravado. By the end of this dual assault of rapid-fire beats and fist-pounding guitar, there can be no doubt that this soundtrack succeeds in SPAWNing a new music fusion which, like the film's namesake, is heavy, fearsome, and completely futuristic.Rolling Stone (8/21/97, pp.105-106) - 3 Stars (out of 5) - "...What makes this collection an inspired idea is...the pairing of heavy metal's fascination with deep-rooted technophobic dread and electronica's eagerness to assimilate high tech..." Entertainment Weekly (8/8/97, p.79) - "Producer Happy Walters hit on a clever idea here: to match metal stalwarts with electronica pioneers. The result? A rich cache of new subgenres and crossover possibilities..." - Rating: A NME (Magazine) (8/2/97, p.39) - "...Too much testosterone-clogged blood on the dancefloor to make it consistent, but it's ultimately worth looking into for the freak successes and the absence of a Jesus Jones contribution..." The ultimate Stuff Wow it totally rules I love the track with Orbital and Kirk Hammet. I think more metal bands should pair up with techno bands. I really hope there's a sequel and hopefully it'll come with a kick ass soundtrack Submitted by a reviewer (Richmond , BC) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Good but nothing special Pairing bands together for the songs is creative, but doesn't really work out in the end. A DJ's wasted time with a classic Metallica track leads to nearly 4 minutes of special effects, and the song is left to become nothing but a sideshow to DJ Spooky's mixing knowledge. The soundtrack, however, does have it's good points, such as pairing Orbital with Kirk Hammett, and Filter with Crystal Meth. Korn's track isn't bad either, but the rest of the soundtrack is nothing special. Unless you're dedicated to this genre of music, pass it up, and go for the solo efforts of the bands in the soundtrack Submitted by a reviewer (Coquitlam BC) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Spawn Soundtrack CD music
$11.39 Featuring brothers Chris and Cody Groom, Berkeley Heights is trying to be both a nod to the past and a look towards the future. By combining songwriting structures from synth pop, classic rock, alternative and new wave the band is hard to categorize. Take a shot of the Beach Boys, mix it with some New Order, then toss in equal parts Postal Service and the Everly Brothers and you come close. Regardless of instrumentation the band is concerned foremost with great songs. Catchy chord progressions, memorable hooks and tight arrangements are the bands mainstays. If you are afraid of pop music the band might not be for you but don't be surprised if you catch yourself humming along.Officially formed in 2007 after many nights of drunken musical banter, the project was an idea that had been gestating for the previous two years to no fruition. Finally, in August of 2007, the brothers decided to sit down and start demoing some songs to see if the idea would work. The song “Blind Eyes” was the result and immediately the brothers knew they were onto something. The song ...
