One of Carly Simon's most eclectic and satisfying albums, 1976's ANOTHER PASSENGER didn't include any major hits, but it's the same sort of career-redefining album as Joni Mitchell's HEJIRA from the previous year. Much more restrained and subtle than most of the pop singles which made Simon's name, ANOTHER PASSENGER is complex and at times almost jazzy.
Producer Ted Templeman occasionally recalls the sonic lavishness of his own '60s group Harper's Bizarre, particularly in the elaborate harmonies on some songs. Alternating confessionals like "In Times When My Head," sly and sexy tunes like "He Likes to Roll" and "Dishonest Modesty," and genuinely lovely ballads like "Half a Chance" and "Be With Me," these songs are among the best of Simon's long and prolific career.

Carly Simon - Another Passenger Songs
Another Passenger Music Review
Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) Carly's Passenger! This is one of Carly's top five best albums. I could never figure out why this album never went far. In my opinion, it's better than "No Secrets". Though Half a Chance and It Keeps You Runnin' are the best songs here. In Times When My Head and Libby are classic Carly masterpieces. Dishonest Modesty" is a fun, funky piece. Fairweather Father and Cow Town are pure 70's fun. This is one of Carly best work's and for first time Carly fan's, this is a good album to get your feet wet in. Submitted by cryptkeeperfun (South Carolina) Was This Review Helpful? Below the Radar Classic Richard Perry produced her 3 previous albums ( No Secrets, Hotcakes, Playing Possum) with increasing slickness and diminishing sales and critical success. On this album she chose Ted Templeton to produce in a much more rootsy direction. No big hits here, but some of Simon's strongest writing and arrangements. It's really refreshing to hear a more stripped-down Carly. On the writing side, the highlights include In Times When My Head, Cow Town, Be With Me and Libby. Sonically, it's great to hear some tempered funk with One Love Stand and It Keeps You Running. The jazzy guitar arrangement of He Likes to Roll is also a highlight. This is one of Simon's more subtle records where the songwriting and musicianship is allowed to shine over her hit-striving past. Submitted by Rich (San Francisco, CA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? My album is dead! I must buy this! I've been a fan since the beginning and this is one of the best of her albums. I can't play it anymore since my record player is dead- guess I'll have to buy this to replace it. I adore "In Times When My Head". This album was dissed in the 70's, but I've always loved it. Such great mucsical memoreis! Buy it! Submitted by pdmh48 (atlanta. ga) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
