It includes Joe Walsh, Bob Seger, Boz Scaggs, and Dan Fogelberg, so it's obviously not strictly a country album. But the soundtrack is important because it symbolizes the country trend that grew, then faded, in the early '80s (a case can be made that J.R. Ewing had a lot more influence on the fad than the film Urban Cowboy). Most of the country tracks here lean toward MOR. ~ Tom Roland

Old Friend The Urban Cowboy soundtrack is one of my favorites and I played my original cassette so often I think I just plain wore it out several years ago. I read a while back that it was going to be re-produced on CD but could never find it until a friend clued me to the CD Universe web site. When the Urban Cowboy CD arrived it was an old friend that I've enjoyed getting re-aquainted with. Submitted by a reviewer (Concord, CA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
