Hoist is the most concise Phish album to date, but that's not necessarily a compliment. Phish's strength is not songcraft or hooks, it's the band's love of free-form song structures and extended jams. When the group's sound is reduced to its core, as it is on Hoist, it isn't quite as compelling. Tower of Power Horns + Phish = PHUN!!! Hoist is the story of a band going to the big, bad state of California to make an rock album. This album is supposed to be Phish's bust out album into the mainstream. Ha boy was Elektra dissapointed. I think Down With Disease was shown twice on MTV: once at 1 o clock in the morning and the other on Beavis and Butthead. Phish's most prolific album In 1994, this album seemed ahead of it's time.Plenty of guests, and cathchy riff's.
