(3 Customer Reviews)
This career-spanning set includes Simply Red's two No. 1 hits, "If You Don't Know Me By Now" and "Holding Back The Years," along with lesser-known selections from the band's admirable catalog of soulful pop music.
Simply Red's songs are well-executed and emotive, with structures softly resting upon a foundation of jazz, reggae and soul. Mick Hucknell's rich, spirited vocals, reminiscent of Otis Redding, hold the pieces together. Over the years, Simply Red has had instrumental assistance from the likes of reggae tricksters Sly & Robbie and funkmeister Bootsy Collins. Such collaborations have led to easygoing songs held up by sharp musicianship. GREATEST HITS provides example after example of classic pop form.
Additional personnel includes: Sly Dunbar, Robbie Shakespeare, Bootsy Collins, Lenny Castro, The Fugees.
Recorded between 1987 and 1995.
Producers include: Simply Red, Mick Hucknall, Stewart Levine, Alex Sadkin.
Simply Red includes: Mick Hucknall (vocals).

| | T I Paper Trail CD (2008) Explicit Version
Greatest Hits
$15.65 After a year on lock-down for illegal machine gun possession, the self-proclaimed king of the south channels his personal strife into his introspective sixth studio album, PAPER TRAIL. The title stems from T.I.'s decision to return to writing his rhymes down on paper; the lyrical craftsmanship shows as the ATL icon delves into personal issues--speaking on his legal troubles ("Ready For Whatever"), his prison experience ("You Ain't Missing Nothing"), and his fallen homies ("Dead and Gone"). T.I. also collaborates with former rival Ludacris for the grandiose "On Top of the World," speaks on the cannibalistic relationship between rappers' personal lives and their art on "My Life Your Entertainment," and joins Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Lil Wayne for the bombastic posse cut "Swagga Like Us." Production comes courtesy of Drumma Boy, DJ Toomp, Rob Knox, Jim Jonsin, Just Blaze, and Swizz Beatz, among others.

$11.39 Established in January of ’05, it started in October ’04 with Jim and Lucas writing songs and auditioning drummers and lead guitarists for about 4 months. In January, we got our rehearsal studio in downtown Portland and continued to audition players but to no end seeing how we could not find the right players that were on the same page and as versatile and open minded musically as we were, not worried about what was hot at the time, just wanting to do what we wanted, not what someone thought we should be doing. Then we brought in Scitty and Tommy to complete Almost Sober. Scitty and Lucas played in Deep and Elevated Nature in the past and Jim and Tommy played together in various projects through out the years and always had a connection personally and musically, so it was an instant fit when Tommy and Scitty showed the interest and love for the music Jim and Lucas had already started. After a few months of rehearsal and added writing, we had our first show together May 6th at The Ash Street Saloon. Soon after, we spent the entire summer playing at parties, Saturday Market, and The Roseland. Then we hit the studio to record our debut CD, Almost Sober. With spring coming on, we had our CD release party at the Roseland Bar and Grill with attendance close to 500 people. Now summer ’06 is shaping to be real packed for us with shows booking throughout the summer and beyond. We are now on a compilation CD with Perris Records with our song “That’s Life”. So far the feedback is excellent for our CD with every musical crowd really ...
