HOMOGENIC was nominated for a 1998 Grammy for Best Alternative Music Performance.
"Bachelorette was nominated for the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Short Form Music Video.
As one of modern music's most enigmatic and consistently entertaining personalities, Bjork has never shied away from the edge. Whether making straight ahead dance music, exploratory modern rock, or even show-tune-caliber drama, her vision has always remained innovative and original. Her voice jumps, in the space of a syllable, from a kitten-like purr to a banshee's howl, and is never anything less than captivating. HOMOGENIC, her latest musical endeavor, finds her plunging headlong into electronica, a form well-suited to her intense, offbeat phrasing and tone.
From the skittering breakbeats and ghostly wails of the opening "Hunter" to the all-out electronic crash that is "Pluto," HOMOGENIC explores the melding of human and machine. The drama of "Bachlorette" finds a lush, rich string section following a tripping electronic beat, giving way to the Icelandic wonder's trademark wail. The juxtaposition of thoroughly modern sounds with conventional elements, such as symphonic arrangements, pipe organ, and accordion, form a central theme, to which HOMOGENIC's title undoubtedly refers. On HOMOGENIC, the traditional and the technological find their meeting point in Bjork's soaring, otherworldly voice.

Entertainment Weekly (9/26/97, pp.76-77) - "...may be Bjork's most audacious move in a career filled with them....On roughly half the album she and coproducer Mark Bell...take two seemingly incompatible genres--techno and classical--and weld them together. It's like sneaking a boom box into a chamber recital and seeing what happens..." - Rating: A Melody Maker (12/20-27/97, pp.66-67) - Ranked #33 on Melody Maker's list of 1997's "Albums Of The Year." Homogenic Music Review Average Rating: (4.6 out of 5 stars) She does it again The layers duke, the LAYERS! How she does such amazing, in depth, emotional work is beyond me. Bjork's lyrics don't tell you how she feels, but command your own intospection before you even begin to understand her purpose. "Love's a two way dream" Her images are extrodanary, composistion phenominal. Submitted by android_lady (Texas) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
organic and beautiful The opening hunter is just amazing, and right to the last sombre yet beautiful track, all is full of love, this album is complete with an amazing icelandic orchestra on some selections (unravel, bachelorette, joga) that just make this a must-buy. A very organic album, that will leave you wanting more, which she does well with Vespertine. Submitted by quizzical (encino, ca, usa) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Bjork rebounds This is much better than "Telegram" (which in my opinion was pointless) and once again Bjork is taking chances no one else has the guts to. This is probably her most innovative and daring work yet. She's advanced so quickly that it seems like there should be another link between "Post" (her last "real" album) and "Homogenic". Raw Emotion, Original Experiments Experimentation is still the main rule in Bjork's work. In this album, corrosive rhythms marry the soft sound of strings in a very unique form. With Homogenic, Bjork has done it again.
Dark, but not impenetrable, this album covers a series of emotions, going from melancholy, to paranoia, to hope. It prooves Bjork to be one of the most creative genius of our time.
Her childish and privileged voice still sounds fresh and emotional.
Homogenic is an album that promises to sound fres and innovative through the years.
FOR FANS OF: Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Happy Rhodes, Portishead, PJ Harvey and Radiohead.

Homogenic album
$10.89 With DEBUT, the Icelandic thrush Bjork Godmundsdottir (late of the Sugarcubes) brings her knowing innocence and quirky voice to bear on an engaging program of renegade pop tunes. The unusual instrumental textures on songs such as "Human Behavior," fleshed out with timpani, small percussion instruments, vibraphones and harps, suggests a post-modern version of Phil Spector.
As a singer, Bjork's swooping octave leaps and guttural cries betray the elemental contradictions in her music. She projects the girlish innocence and barely constrained sensuality of a wise child, old beyond her years (the techno-reggae romanticism of "Venus As A Boy," the bouncy house changes of "Big Time ...
| | Bjork Post CD (1995)
Homogenic CD music
$6.95 POST, Bjork's second release as a solo artist, mines the fertile soil of the eclectic musical terrain of post-modern pop. The album throbs in and out of ambient cadences with techno beats, slips into showtune theatrics, then reels back to the dance floor.
With a full plate of sounds already on the table, Bjork adds her own unique flare to the presentation, proving she is not easily pigeonholed. The lyrically-insistent opener, "Army Of Me," is a relentless electronic grind that is typical of Bjork's vibe, but POST also digs into Western music's more organic resources. "It's Oh So Quiet" may be a remake of an old Hollywood showtune, but Bjork's version transcends the song's silver screen aloofness on the strength of her delightful screams ...

$11.39 Alberto de Almar's BENT MARBLE is to guitar music what string theory is to physics. Multidimensional and out of this world, you will be transported into the eclectic and exhilarating world of Electric Metal Flamenco where the music will rock your Mandelbrot socks off.The fusion of Modern Flamenco and Latin/Jazz/Progressive Classical Rock guitar styles pulls every string into a variety of sounds creating music that is spine-tingling, fun and inspired. Like a rollercoaster ride that surprises at every turn, Alberto's delicious and breathtaking guitar work will leave you in awe while you line up for yet another ride through the wonderland he creates with his guitar. Alberto's fingers fly at supersonic speed into the classical elements of Bachamole and Adagio in Gm. They dance with wild abandon across the musical landscape of Eat Your Lotus Seeds, Song For Kika and Dance of the Psychotropic Ferns and glide smoothly over each note on the progressive rock riffs on Hey Now Mama, Andalucia and Don't Know Why after which they dazzle on the fiery Flamenco acoustic song, Furia. When you slide BENT MARBLE inside your digital device, computer and/or CD player, you may experience infinite euphoria, enlightenment and a thrilling sensation deep inside your DNA. So close your eyes and enjoy the ride!___"I think of my music as a harmonic and spirited synthesis of styles that encompass the cerebral flow of jazz, the electric energy of rock, the calculated restraint of classical, the ancient rhythms of world music and the sensual and exhilarating passion of Flamenco. One might call it a Musical Paella of sorts -- melodic nourishment for the hungry soul." -- Alberto de Almar___Alberto de Almar is simply one of the most captivating guitarists around. Anyone who has listened to Alberto's music or seen Alberto's live performances is struck by his talent, technique and his diverse, inventive and emotionally charged guitar playing. Though primarily known for his contemporary Flamenco/Fusion style, Alberto's multifaceted fret work cuts across musical genres incorporating both acoustic and electric guitar. Alberto began playing guitar at age 11 in his home town of Miami. After mastering rock, jazz and classical guitar ...
