Ol' Dirty Bastard, perhaps the most well-known member of Staten Island's Wu-Tang Clan, returns with the first Wu masterpiece since Wu-Tang's 1997 double-LP WU-TANG FOREVER. Whether singing, albeit slightly off-key, on the bluesy "Good Morning Heartache" or randomly shouting-out on "I Can't Wait," ODB bounces between personas and genres like a schizophrenic clown. The results, while not quite as cohesive as some efforts by his peers, are still some of the most rewarding.
Although many expected a more polished product after recent guest appearances on hits such as Pras' "Ghetto Superstar" and Mariah Carey's "Fantasy," ODB sets the record straight on the first track, "Recognize," with the statement "This ain't no commercial song." The producers, including Wu leader RZA and Irv Gotti, feed ODB's subterranean sound with kinetic tracks that sample unsuspected nuggets of funk such as the "Theme From T.J. Hooker." Even though ODB occasionally can confuse the listener by attacking white rappers on one song then claiming to both black and white on the next, these contradictions are the foundation of his style. He is both madman and jester, simultaneously the most scary and beloved of the Wu Tang Clan. N***A PLEASE, like ODB, is unpredictable from start to finish.

Nigga Please Music Review
Average Rating: (3.8 out of 5 stars) List All 12 Reviews ODB at his best - insane!! I gotta disagree with the previous posting. Me and my crew loved this CD when it first dropped back in '99 and it has a special place to this day, espec. since now he passed away. Neptunes produced most of this tracks even Irv Gotti (yes, THAT Irv Gotti, pre-Murder Inc.!) and they all sound manic and sometimes outright hilarious, but they ALL bump! "Got your money" ain't even the best track on here! The opening song with Chris Rock "Recognize" sets the pace and it just gets more and more outrageous as the CD goes on! "Nigga Please", "I can't wait", "You don't want"....those my faves. this was a natural step for ODB, the kind of artist he was - always surprising, always unpredictable, always dirty ("I'm the cun_ breath, a_ _ hole eater/ and if you let me physically eat it, it only gets 'burrrrrrp!'") ...yeh, he actually burps while eating a chik out! Gotta luv it. R.I.P. ODB Submitted by williest1 (Austin, TX) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A tru disappointment 'Nigga Please' is definately one of the worst albums i have bought. After buying 'Return To The 36 Chambers', I thought that this album was gonna match its standards.I was wrong, dead wrong.'Nigga Please is only worth having for 'Got Your Money' but if you see the single, get that instead. DA ILLEST SHIT TO DATE FROM ODB!!! This is a story about a man who every time he wanted to score his lady friend was on the rag, so then one day he met a new lady frien, she was also on the rag, but he just got busy up in that piece, no discussion bloody good fun. ODB is a genius vand he is one of the few proud brothers that will eat the pink taco with the hot sauce. A banging album, no doubt. Submitted by a reviewer (Chile, SA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
